Dam Square is the best way to start 48 hours in Amsterdam. This plaza, almost all central and only 750 meters from the main transportation hub, is a day plan, looking at the impressive and beautiful royal palace buildings in awe. This is the perfect place to set up.

Ann Frank Huis

If you visit only one museum during your stay in Amsterdam, it's always Ann Frank Huis Ten Bosch.

In the hall, you can see the story of a Jewish girl hiding from the Nazis during World War II.

A part of the house was stored at the time when Anne lived, had an excerpt from her diary, and her struggle, as if hundreds of thousands of Jews in Europe were reflected. Information is everywhere.

At the same time, the content of the heart that seems to be torn (both the fact that people have experienced, and the fact that human condition has caused such fear, pain, and death). Museumsplein

Museumsplein is a public space in Amsterdam and has three famous museums (RIJKSMUSEUM, VAN GOGH MUSEUM, Stedelijk Museum). I love museums, but what I like most about this space is the IAMTERDAM character in the back of RIJKSMUSEUM.

This area is always crowded with people, and you may need to go several times to take a symbolic photo, but it's definitely worth visiting during 48 hours in Amsterdam!

Tip: When visiting the Van Gogh Museum or the Stedelike Museum, make a reservation early.

Red light district

The trip to Amsterdam will not end without a stroll in the Red Light district, which made Amsterdam famous. It's all true to hear about the red line in a collection of prostitution, sex shops, and museums.

This area is not full of shady men and young stag parties (although there are many types), and a glimpse of a group of society that couples and girls can not be seen elsewhere. I also see wandering around. One of the most fun things in Amsterdam!

Vondelpark

The 4 7-hectares of Fondell Park is the largest city park in Amsterdam, and 10 million people visit each year. In this park, which is popular with Amsterdam citizens and tourists, many people enjoy the outdoors all day.

Why don't you buy a tak e-out lunch box and just watch the world passing for a few hours. You should be able to forget the hustle and bustle of Amsterdam immediately!

48 hours doesn't give you time to go outside the city to see the windmills, but that doesn't mean you can't visit them! Head to Brouwerij'tij, Amsterdam's most famous brewery (even though Heineken has moved to the city!).

The building was originally used as a municipal bathhouse, but it's lucky to be located right next to the largest wooden windmill in Amsterdam, and the largest in the Netherlands, making it the perfect landmark. Even if you're not surrounded by tulip fields, you should be proud to have seen a windmill!

Try the Local Food

A short walk from Dam Square, Science Center Nemo is a hands-on museum for children that's perfect for keeping little ones entertained for a while.

How To Fall in Love with Amsterdam in 72 Hours

Oh, Amsterdam. I was always invited to play in college, but I was always busy. But a gorgeous city like Rome and Hong Kong called my name loudly. But when I finally visited you, I couldn't believe I wasn't with me earlier.

Amsterdam, who fell in love with you. hard. Amsterdam helped me to understand my traditions as a Dutch, and surprised me in an unexpected way. A canal like a picture. Relaxed Blue Jeans attitude. And even this abominable bicycle lane, I was fascinated.

I was worried at first, but after spending three days, I was officially hooked. This is the true story of how I fell in love with the Dutch capital in 72 hours, and how you do it.

In a few seconds after getting off a taxi in front of the hotel in Amsterdam, we were about to be hit by a bicycle. Or rather, I was about to be hit by a bicycle that violated speed. Ashley (my travel blogger friend), an aerial swing enthusiast, jumped out gracefully with the dexterity of a ninja. Her reflexes are as fast as lightning.

Day 1

Passing Amsterdam Bicycle Etiquette 101

It is true that he was suffering from jet lag, but that is not an excuse. Be careful of your bicycle lane! "I got an email many times from my mother. (But I may have paid only half of the attention. Be careful because gum will grow in your stomach when you swallow the gum. I am 7 years old. I didn't realize that this was a joke)

In Amsterdam, you can learn traffic rules quickly. Here is, "Do you do or do?" Once in a vigilance, it will be easier to check many times before crossing. Especially in rush hours and crowded areas. At the end of the journey, I was consuming enough caffeine, so I was able to avoid collisions with this metal monster.

Looking back, it may not have been the best decision to head to Anne Frank House immediately after a 8-hour flight. I knew that it would be an emotional experience, so I could imagine what kind of mental state I was in the effects of lack of sleep.

Anne Frank House

When you have to bend to enter the secret annex in the back of the bookshelf, when you go up the stairs, you have loud noise, how quiet you need to do to find Ann and his family is not discovered. When imagining. It seems that a solemn expression comes to mind when the people who visit the museum stop to read the wall signs or keep an eye on the diary page of the 1 3-yea r-old Anne's handwriting. Ta.

Like many American students, when I was in junior high school, "Anne's Diary" was a mus t-read. At the time, when studying for geometric examinations was the biggest concern, Anne spelled out her hidden life as a Jewish Jewish during World War II. I was bothered by the fact that Anne was discovered and arrested on August 4, and it was the same day I got married to a Jewish man. After the excitement of Anne Frank's house, Ashley and I wanted to drink a cold cup immediately. We stopped by Cafe Karkhofen near Anne Frank House and ordered beer early in the evening.

Indulging in a Pint at a Brown Café

Café Kalkhoven is what the Dutch call the brown café. The brown café, also called the Brincafé, is a traditional Dutch pub, so named for its hardwood interior and nicotine-stained walls. The brown café has been around since 1670!

It was here that I first tasted beer from Brouwerij t'IJ, the microbrewery next to the windmill. Their IPA (7% ABV) had floral and grapefruit aromas and a great hop flavor. The gezellig (cozy) atmosphere combined with the delicious beer made for a perfect space to reflect on our Amsterdam experience without any rushing.

One of the first things that made us fall in love with Amsterdam was how often we would come across another canal and exclaim with great force, "Oh my goodness, this is so beautiful!" This happened roughly every 10 seconds between turning a corner and looking up from my camera viewfinder.

Strolling around the Jordaan

Perhaps nowhere was this more evident than when we were strolling through the Jordaan (sounds like "YOR-DAHN"). It's hard to put into words the sense of joy and freedom I felt while walking through this neighborhood.

After some delicious tapas at La Oliva, we headed to Bar Oldenhof, recommended by the couple we were sitting next to for dinner. It was a little hard to find (in fact, we walked right past the entrance the first time), but we were pleased once inside.

Late Night Cocktails

Bar Oldenhof had an impressive list of gin and tonics that whet our appetites. One that caught our eye was Monkey 47 gin, Thomas Henry elderflower tonic, vanilla and lime, which struck the perfect balance between simplicity and complexity. (It was the perfect balance of simplicity and complexity (my notes show Ashley said it "smells like cookies baking"). No, she wasn't high; Ashley really does love cookies.)

Bar Oldenhof exudes the quintessential sophisticated drinking den vibe, with classy service. In short, these craft cocktails are worth the effort to find them.

Van Gogh Museum

However, the Van Gogh Museum is well balanced with his work behind the person called Van Gogh. We visited the museum on March 30, the birthday of Van Gogh, focused on Van Gogh's tragic end, but a work full of vitality.

The two paintings, "Leaving the Reform Church in Neenen" and "Seabeningen's view of the sea", had been missed for 14 years, but on display.

Here, there are a lot of sel f-portraits, mixed with famous works such as "bedroom" (1888). It turned out that my personal favorite "Almond Flower" (1890) was given to his nephew's birth. There is also an interesting fact that Finsent Van Gogho found a vocation as an artist when he was 27 years old.

It is true that Van Gogh was a suffering artist, but has created some of the most beautiful paintings that survive today. The Van Gogh Museum is always built into the Itinerary of Amsterdam.

House of Bols: Or, The Trippiest Experience I’ve Ever Had

This laminated card is like an art appreciation 101.

Being a total art history novice (I picked up your slang, Ashley!), I was genuinely grateful for the large laminated cards near the paintings. These cards helped an art novice like me interpret what was going on in the scene before me. (As a side note, the staff at the Rijksmuseum were some of the most helpful, passionate, and patient people I have ever met. Thanks to them for answering our persistent questions dozens of times!)

But my two favorite pieces in the museum were not by Rembrandt or Vermeer. Perhaps that's because I'm more obsessed with Bernini's Apollo and Daphne than with the still-life fruit basket.

Finding Beer Nirvana at the Heineken Experience

As a travel and alcohol writer, it probably won't surprise you that another piece I liked was in the "drinking games" section of the museum.

Back in the day, the water was so polluted that it was not suitable for drinking. Instead, people of all ages drank low-alcohol beer. So the Dutch came up with a fun drinking game that involved meticulously crafted vessels.

Created in the 17th century, "Hansel in the Cellar" would wake up a little baby named Hansel when a bowl of booze was poured into it. Apparently the wealthy were as bored as pawns, and this was how they announced the birth of their children to their friends and family. Keep an eye on me, Hansel...

Pour in the wine... and little baby Hansel will let you know you're pregnant.

Keukenhof

Hungry Stroopwafel Attack

By this time, Ashley and I were the living definition of hungry. We needed to fill our stomachs faster than you could say "Proost!" Luckily, Ashley, who has plenty of experience eating on the go, found a vendor selling stroopwafels in a courtyard near the Van Gogh Museum.

Y'all, you found my weak spot. Heaven on earth, two thin layers of waffles filled with the nectar of the gods (apparently a caramel-like syrup). God bless the baker who decided to create this masterpiece with leftovers. A happy accident.

More Canal Admiration

Luckily, I found a local coffee shop in Brooklyn that sells authentic stroopwafels. Looks like someone liked me...

Cocktails at House of Bols

Red Light District

Oh, House of Bolus. The cocktail museum near the Van Gogh Museum is characterized by a sel f-guided tour and is one of the most tripped experiences I've ever experienced. From now on, I will write a ful l-fledged article, so I would like you to see that, but basically you will use the five senses to experience cocktails.

Whether you don't like tulips, you're not good at green, the colorful garden of Kukenhoff is worthwhile for at least half a day. Kukenhoff, which opened in 1950, has more than 7 million flowers, and there are real windmills. Furthermore, you can easily go by bus from Skipole Airport, so you can't make an excuse to miss even if you wait for a long time.

Average length of day in Amsterdam

Wow, this is a really cool sound! This is my second visit to Amsterdam this summer, but I will definitely remember it! I can't wait to try a wonderful cocktail or get lost on a narrow canal!
