A Farewell to the PCA PokerNews
A Farewell to the PCA
Last week, news broke that the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure was coming to an end after 16 years.
As I'll explain later, I'm not really sad that the PCA is no longer running, but the news made me feel a bit nostalgic and prompted me to write down my thoughts about the long-running event in the form of an editorial. Although I haven't attended the PCA in nearly 20 years, I have covered it four of the last five times, even trying to qualify as a PokerStars player back then.
My Introduction to the Big Leagues
Basically, my memories of the PCA come from it being the first "destination" event I ever covered.
When you get a job covering poker tournaments, you start off covering smaller, less desirable events, but your more advanced reporters get to go to cool places like Prague and Barcelona. And like many of the people who qualified through the $33 rebuy at Stars, I was convinced that the PCA was in a cool place.
After a year of traveling across the Midwest to cover small regional tournaments, I was ecstatic when my old boss Donnie Peters asked me to cover the 2015 PCA. Of course, I accepted. Not only would I be covering a huge event and continuing to establish myself as a reliable reporter, but I'd also be earning a big check that I never got from a weekend job, all while Omaha was covered in truckloads of snow. Here we go.
I'd be working with legendary live reporters like Mickey Doft and Josh Carlick, my best friends, going to waterslides and the beach in my free time, and eating meals that didn't exceed $70 a day. As anyone who's been to Atlantis knows, it's not easy.
When a guy I'd never heard of named Kevin Schultz (I actually covered him in the WSOP Main Event for the first time since that trip this year) won the Main Event, the fun was over and I just wanted to go back.
Seeing the Warts
I was lucky enough to become a full timer for PokerNews and covered three of the next four PCAs.
PSPC was the only event. PSPC was the only event, and at the time it seemed to be surreal to cover a beginner who bet $ 5 million for $ 25k, and was reminded of how crazy pokers were. I wrote some memorable articles, as poker super fans, Bruno Malabazzi, won the package with the favor of Bill Parkins, and as in the interview with Golf master Sergio Garcia.
The author interviews Sergio Garcia.
Nevertheless, if you have stayed in Atlantis for a reasonable time, you can prove that your first visit will open your eyes and your appeal will fade.
For one thing, local people definitely protect "Island Time". In this year's PCA, I was reminded of a request for billing at Comfort Sweets Hotel and was not solved.
And basically everything is too expensive. Atlantis's prices are high and added value tax is added, so it is difficult to eat a decent meal of less than $ 40. It was a daily occurrence to overtake the daily allowance and put the meal fee in your pocket. Even basic things like one box of granolver bought at a local convenience store will twice the price in the United States.
Speaking of expensive, as we always did, it would cost $ 50 in a week if we stayed outside the premises and worked out.
In the next two PCAs, I was hit by a storm and I rarely spent on the beach. What I saw was that photographer Danny Maxwell still left somewhere on the video, but was drowning in the rough waves.
And this inconvenience experienced by me and many other travelers on a PCA is more like a fart compared to some of the true fear experiences that are overflowing in the streets, and one of them is read on TwoPlustustwo. Since then, I have caught my heart and never let go.
Rich History and a Fitting End
Despite such a problem, there is a reason that PCA has become the largest and longest poker tournament in the world.
Traveling to exotic lands full of young players and recreational players participating in online qualifying was special. As a player, I dreamed of passing qualifying with a number of satellite in Pokerstars. I remember being very excited (and jealous) when my friend, Kyle "KA $ INO", won the seat with a $ 33 riby.
In addition, there seems to be something in this place that maximizes the player's abilities. Atlantis has many legendary hands, which is the most memorable in poker tournament history. A legendary rhraf to Ryan Dow, Isaac Hakston, a giant fold against Garen Hall's Chris Oliver, a nut flop for Thai Riman in Harrison Gimbell in Thai Riman:
Considering the rich history of PCA, it was a bit sad to see Pokerstars trying to reduce the number of motorites and increase the number of satellite.
Of course, this year, PSPC gave me a great hit. In retrospect, this is probably the last PCA, but when Ramon Collillas got more than $ 5 million awards, I got the highest prize in history in small qualifying. It was an event suitable for PSPC.
Farewell, PCA
The last thing I want to touch is the devastating effect of the hurricane "Dorian", which has recently landed in Bahama. Hundreds of deaths and missing people have caused millions of damage. I don't know what the impact of this decision was, but everyone would admit that it was incredibly sad. Relief activities are currently ongoing, and everyone who can afford should find a way to support them in donations and other ways.
Some say that PCA probably may still be back in another place.
I'm surprised. Rumors say that Poker Stars has extended his relationship with Atlantis in a short term before the PCA was held. The official announcement of the company states that one of the reasons for the end of the event is the feedback of the player, indicating that the willingness to travel to Bahamas for $ 10 k dollars has probably exceeded the feasible level. 。
If a person who has been involved in Pokerstars like BRAD WILLIS for many years has written an article about "closing thebook", it will mean that the PCA we know has ended. 。
The shine of Pokerstars was lost, and I felt like it was time to close the store. It is lonely to leave the midwest in January, but there are many things that PCA is not really lonely.
However, considering that it was one of the largest events in poker for over 10 years, I am glad that the PCA was not likely to end with 300 entry, but to show a psp c-like excitement.

PokerStars Says Goodbye to the PCA
Posted on Wednesday, 1/6/16 at 6:06 PM
If you're going to kick off the festival with something, you might as well pick something big. The now-traditional PokerStars Caribbean Adventure kicks off the festival.
You probably wouldn't have thought so at 12:05pm today. At the start, there were just seven players, split across two tables. It was a quiet, low-key atmosphere, far from the poker dream.
But eight levels later, 43 players had registered, six re-entries, and 35 players had collected chips tonight, led by Talal Shakerchi.
Talal Shakerchi: Business Leader Becomes Chip Leader
It was an interesting day for three business leaders turned poker players, especially Shakerchi, Kathy Lehne and Bill Perkins.
Shakerchi won 805, 000 to edge out Nick Petrangelo's 800, 000. Meanwhile, one newcomer was making waves. Kathy Lane faced some tough opposition, including taking out Isaac Haxton. She had a great Super High Roller debut, winning 783, 000.
Kathy Lehne's Impressive Debut
Full chip counts from Day 1 here.
But as the saying goes, no one wins anything on the first day of an event.
Will it be the fourth time's a charm for Bill Perkins?
Perkins, one of poker's most dynamic players, played three times today and failed all three times. He's going for a fourth try tomorrow. If he can turn things around, he could become a legend.
Others who have left and come back include Erik Seidel and Haxton, who played with a Steve O'Dwyer figurine (apparently made by his sister). And, at least for now, they won't be back on the rail. Isaac Barron, JC Alvarado, Antonio Esfandiari (who was watching from the rail today), Thomas Muhllecker, Ole Siemion (note: Oh-luh, not Oh-lay!)
Steve O'Dwyer... as a card protector
Re-entries are open until play begins tomorrow. Or you can check out the schedule for the 13 new events starting tomorrow, especially the $2, 200 LAPT Main Event.
All details can be viewed on the PCA2016 website. You can also see here for today's live update, which introduces the above story in detail. See the indomitable player, Fedor Holz interviews. Poker dreams can come true.
Continue will be tomorrow.

9:18 PM: Mandavia is double KO level 8 in the last han d-blind 2, 500-5, 000 (500 anti)
The last hand tonight was a double knockout.
The hand began when Mandavia was raised from the middle position to 13, 000. Justin Bonomo responded with 150, 000 al l-in, and Mustapha Kanit was al l-in at 27, 500. MANDAVIA called BONOMO Relay's, and the three players table each hand.
Mandavia: J J Bonomo: A 10 Kanit: 3 2
BONOMO decided a flash draw on the flop 6 7 9, and Kanit decided straight in the turn 5. However, the river was 5, and both players were felt. Meanwhile, Manadavia ended this night with 610, 000 prize money. -MH
The worst result for the last hand, BONOMO
9:00 PM: Ace High controls level 8-blind 2, 500-5, 000 (500 anti)
IKE HAXTON took a small pot from Jason Koon in the second round. David Peters opens to 12, 000 from the cu t-off. HAXTON was called from a small blind, and KOON called from the big.
Check, check, check.
Turn on and check HAXTON. Koon bet 20, 000 and leave Peters. However, HAXTON was sticky to K river. Both were checked immediately, and HAXTON turned A 10. -Hs
8:55 PM: Kaverman was KO to Negreanu. Two players with better stacks hit the pot, one was close to the stack, and the other had to start over from the beginning.
The action was folded to the button's BYRON KAVERMAN, he was 75, 000, 75, 000 al l-in, Daniel Negreanu was al l-in with A J, and Mike Mcdonald was folded from the big blinds.
The 4 J3 10 K board is advantageous for Negreanu, he is 195, 000, while Kaverman has been sent off at this time. -Nw
Byron Kaverman
8:57 PM: Unauthorized Level 8-Blind 2, 500-5, 000 (500 Anti)
Steve O'Dwyer is not a type that explodes emotions. Whether he wins or loses (often wins), he tends to keep calm. That's why he recently ranted, "Hey, everyone!"
The action was folded in the smal l-blind David Peters, and O'DWYER was sitting on his left. O'Dwyer, the Super Hyloller Champion, exchanged 5, 000 blinds with 25, 000 chips, and Peters quickly folded.
This fold invited o'dwyer's mourning. O'Dwyer raised a pocket ace and beat it. (Just in case, O'Dwyer's suffering was not serious). -HS
Steve Odwire
8:45 PM: Mckeehen Level 8 --Clind 2, 500-5, 000 (500 Anti)
The WSOP main event champion Joe Mckeehen has won the NOAH SchWartz and has now won 660, 000.
Mckeehen opened to 12, 000 from the cu t-off on the pr e-flop, and the SchWartz was 37, 000 from a small blind.
The flop was 8 Q 10, the SchWartz was 40, 000, and Mckeehen called. The two players checked the turns of Q and ended the community card with A. After the schWartz checked, Mckeehen lifted a lo w-priced chip and then put three hig h-value chips on the betting line. It is a 75, 000 bed.
The Schwartz has now entered the tank and came out in a call. Mckeehen showed A K, and Schwartz looked disappointed and mac his hand. He went down to 360, 000. -NW
8:44 PM: Igor life is 9 level 8-blinds 2, 500/5, 000 (500 anti)
Igor Kurganov seems to be clinging to the tournament all day, and it was al l-in again. However, this time, KURGANOV and their opponent KEITH LEHR kept the ace king, which was very unwilling.
The board did not happen and became a chopped spot. KURGANOV will have 125, 000 a lot of money and hope that today will end early. -RJ
IGOR KURGANOV
8:43 PM: KANIT, KURGANOV Double Slow Level 8-blinds 2, 500-5, 000 (500 Anti)
Shortly after defeating Dan Shak, MustAPHA Kanit doubled up and survived.
After Igor Kurganov raised from the late position, KANIT reformed the last 51, 000 from the blinds, and KURGANOV called.

The board was 8 5 4 Q 3, and KANIT survived. Currently, short stacks for both players are almost the same. -MH

8:38 PM: Tri p-up level 8 to o'dwye r-blind 2, 500-5, 000 (500 anti)
Steve O'Dwyer opened at the button raises, and Jason Koon calls from the big blind. Both checked the AA 9 flops, and after 5 dropped on the turn, Koon led at 11, 000. 3 enters the river, and KOON beds 23, 000.

8:37 PM: Shak, KANIT Stack Level 8-Blind 2, 500-5, 000 (500 Anti)
Dan Shak and Mustpaha Kanit are headed up with a 9 5-Q 2 board. The pot has about 175, 000 and Shak bet 75, 000.
After thinking for a while, Kanit bets enough for Shak to do al l-in. SHAK called and bet Q J to KANIT A 5.
A 3 came on the river, and the Shak queen pair took a pot.
Shak was about 530, 000 with doubl e-up, and Kanit remained only 90, 000. -AV
8:36 PM: HOLZ, Return to Level 8-Blind 2, 500-5, 000 (500 Anti)
After half of the final level of the first day ended, Fedor Holz r e-entered and the total number of entries became 49.
8:20 PM: Kats, Wandering Level 8-Blind 2, 500-5, 000 (500 Anti)
Cary Katz dominated the table and won three small pots. In the first hand, VLADIMIR TROYANOVSKIY opened 11, 000 from the early position, and Bryn Kenney calls from the button.
The flop was 10 J 8, and everyone checked, but KATZ rifles 18, 000 in J, and the other two folded.
The next hand was folded into a smal l-blind katz, and the standard raises were enough to pinch Paul Newey's big blinds. KATZ was on the button, but Kenney raised 11, 000 from hijack.
KATZ was called, and TROYANOVSKIY also called from Big Blind. Troyanovskiy and Kenney checked, but KATZ bet 12, 000 and both called.
It was the turn of K. Check, check, check.
I checked TROYANOVSKIY with K came to the river. Kenney is a bed. He bet 31, 000. However, KATZ reached out four green chips and did not take time to raise 100, 000.
Troyanovskiy shook his head, showed the card to the next NEWEY, and folded it. Kenney was not so dramatic, but still folded.
KATZ currently has nearly 400, 000. -HS
8:28 PM: STERN shows, fold level 8-blinds 2, 500-5, 000 (500 anti)
Byron Kaverman opened a min i-raze from the cu t-off seat to 10, 000, and got two covers, Daniel Negreanu and Dani Stern (Big Blind).
The flop is 3 5 k. Stern checked, and Kaverman bet 10, 000. Negreanu was 27, 000, and STERN leaned and saw Kaverman's behind. Stern put all his chips in front and checked, and KAVERMAN immediately pushed the card. Negreanu took a beat and abandoned his card. -MH

8:25 pm Level 8-blind 2, 500-5, 000 (500 anti)
If Fedor Holz achieves a hat trick in Super Hyloller, it will have to be achieved with the second bullet that Jason Mercier has been deprived of the last chip.
Holz was al l-in from the cu t-off, and Mercier was al l-in with pocket king. Holz was not happy with flop, turns, and rivers. I want to pay attention to HOLZ's rebai. -NW
8:13 PM: Final Level 8-Blind 2, 500-5, 000 (500 Anti)
Level 8 has begun, and 36 people from 48 entry remain. This is the last level tonight. 8:09 PM: Lehne and TAKERCHI are top fighting level 7-blinds 2, 000-4, 000 (500 anti)
Kathy Lehne opened undergun with 10, 000 and Talal Shakerchi called from the big blind. The flop came A 8 5 and both players checked. The turn was Q and Shakerchi bet 15, 000 and Lehne called.
The river was J. Shakerchi checked and after Lehne bet 25, 000 he called. Lehne showed two pair, Q J and Shakerchi mucked.
Lehne and Shakerchi now have stacks of about 750, 000, about three times what they started with. The two are now competing for the top spot in the tournament with David Peters and Bryn Kenney sitting with similar stacks.
Meanwhile, in the 550, 000-600, 000 range are Joe McKeehen, Nick Petrangelo, Christoph Vogelsang, Mike McDonald, and Team PokerStars Pro Vanessa Selbst. -MH
8:08pm: Chip-fighting in Level 7 - Blinds 2, 000-4, 000 (500 Antes)
Among Daniel Negreanu's many talents is his ability to play a hand while having a conversation. While chatting with Dani Stern about his recent California political tour, he played Anton Astapau and built up a stack of 215, 000.
Negreanu started betting at the cutoff, and Astapau called from the big blind. The flop was Q A K.
Astapau checked, and Negreanu did the same, rolling in an 8. Astapau checked again, and Negreanu bet another 12, 000. Astapau called again. The river came a six. Astapau checked again, and Negreanu reached for his chips again, this time for 32, 000. This gave Astapau pause. Not for long, but when he called, it was with the reticence of someone who suspects he's behind. And it was. Negreanu 3-5 for a flush. -SB
"And I made a flush!"
8:02pm: Peters Level 7 - Blinds 2, 000-4, 000 (500 ante)
David Peters wins a small pot against Ike Haxton. When the action reaches the turn of the 9 6 J 3 board, there's 23, 000 in the middle. Peters leads with 15, 000, Haxton plays with 41, 000, Peters calls smoothly.
The 8th river is checked through, and at showdown Peters opens an ace-high flush, A J, and Haxton mucks. Haxton is down to 111, 000.-NW
David Peters
7:55pm Peters breaks away from the pack Level 7 - Blinds 2, 000/ ... Aunty)
David Peters takes a large pot and is currently close to the leader board at about 775, 000.
Peters gained most of the chips from Steve O'Dwyer, but four players started hand.
Kathy Lehne first took the action and raised 10, 000 from under zagan. David Peters was called from hijack, O'DWYER was called from cu t-off, and Talal Shakerchi was also called from a big blind.
The flop was 2 A 5, and Lehne bet 15, 000 when checked. Peters was called, and O'DWYER was raised to 58, 000. Shakerchi and Lehne were folded, and Peters called again.
And the turn was J and there was a big bed. O'Dwyer bet 112, 000, and Peters called.
A 2 completed the board and both players checked. Peters gave a set of 5 5, and O'Dwyer maced. -AV

7:52 PM: NEWEY, Level 7 to get value from Adam s-Blind 2, 000-4, 000 (500 Anti)
Paul Newey opens with a cu t-off and raised, and Timothy Adams relays to 24, 000 from the button. After the flop became 3 k K, both players checked immediately. The turn is 5, and this time NEWEY beds 50, 000. Adams has been called.
5 came to the river and it became a second pair, and NEWEY hit the table and checked it. ADAMS thought a little and then gave a green chip as a 150, 000 bed. NEWEY immediately flickered the chips and showed a call.
Adams tried to put his hand on the table, but as Newey showed A K with five King, he immediately turned the card over and mac. -MH

7:56 PM: Timex is currently level 7-blind 2, 000/4, 000 (500 anti)
Mike 'Timex' McDonald has doubl e-up to Fedor Holz. When I participated in the action, Holz al l-in was al l-in on the river on the board of 4 8 J 9 4. The Canadians have clearly left the battle for a while, apologizing to the table for taking the time. One or two minutes have passed, and he decided to call. Timex showed A J and was good against Holz's K Q.
With this bluff, Holz fell to 133, 000 dangerous water areas, and McDonald rose to 590, 000. -RJ
What if you could see such a scene through the window tonight?
7:55 PM: Level 6, blinds 2, 000-4, 000 (500 anti), SEIVER re-entry.
Scott Saber's first $ 100, 000, which was first participated in the event, did not hurt him. However, after peeling off the second chip wrapping paper, he is getting better. He has already increased the chips to about 440, 000 and earned many of them in a pot with Joe Mckeehen.
Sean Winter started taking action by raising from the cu t-off to 9, 5000. SEIVER was called with a button, Nick Petrangelo let go of the small blinds, and Mckeehen called from the big blind. The three players looked at the A 7 10 flop.
Mckeehen bets 21, 000, and only SEIVER calls. Mckeehen was slowed down, and SEIVER became the third aggresser of this hand. He bet 36, 000 and mckeehen called.
8 came to the river and Mckeehen checked again. SEIVER has now overwhelmed 104, 000. However, Mckeehen could not help calling, but she was shown a set with seiver 7 flop and a full house.
Mckeehen doesn't have to panic yet. He still has about 370, 000. -HS
7:50 PM: ZINNO, Level 7-Blind 2, 000/4, 000 (500 Anti)
In the table 1, the al l-in at Erik Seidel and Anthony Zinno's pr e-flop broke out, and it was a battle on the east coast. SEIDEL raised to 10, 000. Nick Petrangelo called from small blinds, but Zinno thought it was not enough for 10, 000 or three to 36, 000.
The bet was immediately caught in SEIDEL, and he asked Petrangelo and Zinno to show how many bees were. And SEIDEL put four bets to 95, 000. It al l-in with Petrangelo and greatly reduced ZINNO's stack. In the end, the former was folded, and ZINNO made a small amount of shobs. Seidel was going to call, but he liked his A K. Zinno had a pocket queen, so he decided.
Anthony Zinno
The board was 3 5 2 94 4 because SEIDEL decided to flash on the reverb, and ZINNO lost in a rack. Another east coast clan at the table, NOAH SCHWARTZ, immediately offered to buy a percentage of his action if ZINNO r e-entered. The Bostonian has left the tournament room, but if he r e-enter, he will report again.
SEIDEL, which I bought back earlier, is currently sitting on about 400, 000 stacks. -RJ
6:45 PM: Bill Perkins left ... Level 7-Blind 2, 000-4, 000 (500 Anti)
As expected, the Bill Parkin tournament ended.
He shed the last chip in Q J and received a call from Steve O'Dwyer. The board was 8 Q 4 k 10, and the river card ended the recent Perkin campaign.
The face was drawn.
Perkins went to the third rail, saying, "It's the power of Steve." Will you r e-enter now? Tomorrow, you may pass the obscene material Control Law and participate in this $ 100, 000 tournament for the fourth time.
"Parkins said, passing through the Isaac Hakkston table.
"And HAXTON heard. O'Dwyer has recovered to 380, 000. -SB
Is there a fourth bullet?
7:25 PM: Perkins level 6-blind 2, 000-4, 000 (500 anti)
There is no sign that BILL PERKINS's expensive visit to Bahamas will be cheaper. He is once again deprived of Kathy Lehne, and the third bullet is about to be shattered at this event.
The competition of the most fun tables at this event is quite severe, but the felt slabs of the felt, which are currently parkins and lanes, and Talal Shakelch and Steve Odwire, are definitely a powerful candidate. The table has more independent wealth than any other table, which always produces hachamecha.
In this pot, Shakerchi opened to 9, 500, and Lehne calls from the high jack seat on the left side of Shakerchi. It was folded from the David Peters button, but O'DWYER was called from a small blind. With this, PERKINS gave 40, 000 from the big blinds and was happy to accompany it.
Shakerchi asked for a count and learned that he had nearly 150, 000. Shakerchi was folded. However, Lehne called and O'DWYER also called.
"Parkins said.
2 A-Q flops, Perkins flicked 60, 000. Lehne called immediately, but O'DWYER thought it was already enough.
"Cathy, what do you have? When Perkins said, a mysterious eye was returned.
9 came on the turn and PERKINS checked. Lehne grabbed a chance to do a bet and bet 50, 000. Perkins called a little unfortunately.
K came to the river and both players checked. Perkins bought at least a cheap confrontation. "I don't have an ace.
Parkins said. She had A10 and got a big amount. Perkins has only about 40, 000. -HS
7:21 PM: SELBST Stack Schemion Level 7-Blind 2, 000-4, 000 (500 Anti)
The Team Pokerstars professional, Vanessa Selbst, was raised to 9, 000 from the bottom of the cancer, and when the table turned back, OLE Schemion made 25, 500 of the button. The blinds descended to the side, and Selbst called it on the raises. Selbst checked, and Schemion bet 27, 000.
The turn is 4, Selbst is checked again. This time the Schemion bet 51, 500, Selbst checked, the Schemion was al l-in and the Selbst was immediately called.
SCHEMION put A a on the table, but Selbst was 7 7 set. When the River 3 board was completed, Schemion was already up. In fact, he was heading to the exit when the stack was counted and Selbst was covered by him.
Selbst currently has about 530, 000. -MH
7:20 PM: Lehne starts 2 levels at the final level 7-blinds 2, 000-4, 000 (500 anti)

It's hard to get a pot at a table with Vanessa Selbst, Ole Schemion, Igor Kurganov, etc. "I'm going to take a hand soon," KEITHR lamented after giving a small pot to Schemion.
The hand was deployed as follows: Schemion opened the button to 7, 200. LEHR was called from the big blind. The flop is 798. Lehr checked, Schemion was 6, 000, and Lehr was called.
Both of them checked the Q turn and 2 dropped on the river. Lehr was checked, Schemion was bet on 8, 000, and Lehr folded to lament.

At least in the pr e-flop, there were Selbst and Ankush Mandavia pots. Folded by the smal l-blind Selbst, she chose Complete.
He added 5, 000 blue chips to the blinds, and of course the SELBST cage became rattled. She thought for a while and raised 22, 000. Mandavia called.
The two who tried to compete with each other with blinds checked on the 4 9 738 board. Selbst showed K Q, and Mandavia showed A 10. Ace played.
6:54pm: Peters busts Muehloecker Level 6 - blinds 1, 500-3, 000 (400 ante) David Peters busts Thomas Muehloecker for 540, 000. We only see the river action, but with a complete board of K J 4 A Q on the felt with 245, 000 in the middle, Peters moves all in. He has the cover stack and Muehloecker is backing up 135, 000. Peters rolls over Q 10 into broadway and Muehloecker mucks. - NW

6:51pm: Esfandiari stacked against Kenney
Level 6 - Blinds 1, 500-3, 000 (400 Antes)
In the last hand of level 6, Antonio Esfandiari lost chips to Bryn Kenney.
By the time he sat down and the last community card was dealt, all of Esfandiari's chips were committed. Kenney had J 4 and Esfandiari had Q J, and a runout of 4 K 4 5 5 gave Esfandiari a flush, but Kenney had a full house and Esfandiari was gone. I'd love to see Esfandiari rejoin. -MH

6:38pm: Business Level 6 - Blinds 1, 500-3, 000 (400 Antes)
Two hedge fund managers and an oil tycoon enter a poker tournament.
They sit at the same table and play a few hands.
Bill Perkins and Talal Shakerchi are both hedge fund managers who are common sights on the high roller scene, while Kathy Lane, founder of Suncoast Resources, is making her first appearance in a PCA Super High Roller.
The three are already stacked.
In one hand, Perkins raises to 8, 500 under the gun and Shakerchi calls from the button. Lehne calls from the small blind, and David Peters also calls from the big blind.
The flop came 9 2 8 and Lehne bet 15, 000. Peters folded and Perkins raised to 40, 000. Shakerchi and Lehne called and the turn came a 2.
Perkins checked and bet 80, 000 and both players called. The board ended with a J and the players ended the hand with a round of checks.
Lehne flipped a J [10c] to make a pair of jacks, Perkins flipped a muck, and Shakerchi flipped K K to win the pot.

6:50pm: Chidwick loses big time Level 6 - blinds 1, 500/3, 000 (400 ante)
The details are unclear as I entered the action after being dealt a board of 3 J 6 Q 6 with big chips in front of Anton Astapou and Stephen Chidwick. Going back to the bet sizes, Chidwick bets 36, 000 and Astapou raises to 105, 000.
Chidwick ponders with his trademark deadpan attitude and finally calls. Astapou tables out a flop set of pocket threes. He's up to 350, 000. Chidwick still has a comfortable 190, 000 with two levels left on Day 1. - RJ
6:15pm Full Negreanu Level 6 - Blinds 1, 500-3, 000 (400 Antes)
He may have waited until Level 5 to show up, but we've already seen Negreanu in full action. The Team PokerStars pro is one of the most vocal at his table, drawing everyone into the conversation, from Stephen Chidwick to Dani Stern, Jason Koon, Byron Kaverman, Shaun the Dealer, and Donnie Peters of Poker News.
Only when talking about the recent boxing match between Brian Rast and Sorel Mizzi did Negreanu get up from the table and shadowbox back and forth. And he also mentioned another angry altercation involving Kaverman that took place at a soccer stadium in Las Vegas in recent months. Kaverman had to give his side of the story, as he was playing a pot with Christoph Vogelsang.
Real Kid Talker Negreanu was also playing poker, putting all his chips in the middle in a three-way pot against Kaverman and Stern. The pot started when Kaverman opened for 6, 500 under the gun and Negreanu and Stern called.
When the three looked at the 849 flops, Kaverman and Negreanu checked. STERN bet 12, 000, and KAVERMAN called. The action returned to Negreanu, and he pushed three small chips to the center. A total of 61, 200.
The two opponents seemed to be too rich, they folded, and Negreanu showed a naked A. He later dragged about 110, 000 chips stacks and gained enough time to dig up some anecdotes. -HS
6:30 PM: Level 6-Blind 1, 500-3, 000 (400 Anti)
I thought Erik Seidel might be back in the second challenge, but the Americans have really returned. Moreover, he is sitting in the same seat as before. IKE HAXTON is also at the same table. -NW
6:25 PM: HOLZ OVER BONOMO Level 6-Blind 1, 500-3, 000 (400 Anti)
Justin Bonomo opened and opened to 6, 500 from the middle position, and Fedor Holz called from the blind. The flop is 4 4 J. According to Holz, BONOMO bet on 8, 000, and Holz checked to 24, 500 in about half. BONOMO calls after thinking, and the two have 3.
Holz led and bet 41, 000 this time, and Bonomo called. K came to the river and Holz told him that he had al l-in.
BONOMO took about 2 minutes and counted the Holz stack, but was about 170, 000, almost the same as Bonomo's behind. Finally, Bonomo folded, and Holz recovered the pot.

6:15 PM: HAXTON is sent to Lehne level 6-blinds 1, 500-3, 000 (400 anti)
While Erik Seidel was busting at a table, ISAAC HAXTON was busted at another table.
There are many chips in the middle with 9 10 flops, Bill Perkins and Kathy Lehne are on the Haxton hand. HAXTON checked the flop from the early position and also checked the next perkins. Lehne bet 50, 000. HAXTON called, and Perkins left it.
This pattern continued on the turn of J. HAXTON checked Lehne, and Lehne bet 75, 000 this time. HAXTON decided a little bit and decided. He was al l-in. For HAXTON, Lehne has snapped. She flop the full house in 10 9.
HAXTON showed K Q. "I got out. The River 4 card proved why.
"It was pretty bad," said HAXTON, thinking of a resting entry. On the other hand, Lehne has piled up more than 700, 000 chips. She turned to the perkins. "Where were you?
Meanwhile, it was confirmed that HAXTON had reigned. -SB

6:05 PM Seidel Defeat Level 6-Blind 1, 500-3, 000 (400 Anti)

6:04 PM: Level 6 Start Level 6-Blind 1, 500-3, 000 (400 Anti)
Level 6 starts. After this level, there will be another 20 minutes of break, and there will be two more levels by the end of the first day.
Currently, 39 from 44 entries remain. Only Bill Perkins has r e-entered this event, and he has r e-entered twice. -MH
5:57 PM:mckeehen drags 1-t o-DRINAN level 5-blinds 1, 200-2, 400 (300 anti)
In the last hand of level 5, the Connor Drinan opened at 6, 500 from the button, and Joe Mckeehen called from the big blind. The flop was Q6 A, Mckeehen was checked, DRINAN continued at 7, 000, and Mckeehen called. The turn was out, and Mckeehen checked again. This time Drinan bet 15, 000, and Mckeehen called again.
River is 6. Mckeehen checked for the third time, and when DRINAN bet 30, 000, Mckeehen called again. DRINAN began to show something like an ace king, but looked at Mckeehen's hand (tw o-pair A Q), turned the card over and sent it to the Mac. -MH

5:55 PM: Time Bandit Level 5-Blind 1, 200/2, 400 (300 Anti)
The chatter at the table, and the action in this case, became noticeably more lively after Daniel Negreanu joined at table 2. Anton Astapou raised to 4, 800 to start this multi-way hand. Christoph Vogelsang (Button), Negreanu (SB), and Dani Stern (BB) also raised.
The flop saw all four players check. Negreanu led by 12, 500 on turn 6, but was quickly followed by a raise of 36, 000 from Stern. Astapou, who had raised first, walked away, and to his slight surprise, Vogelsang overcalled for 36, 000. This was enough information for Negreanu, so he folded and started watching the clock.
The river was a Q, and Stern, playing first, checked to Vogelsang. Then he thought. Then he thought some more... and he bet 66, 000. Stern was clearly confused, but folded before saying, "This hand is really weird," which made Vogelsang point out that it would be hard for him to bluff there.
At this point, Negreanu said, "How long do you think it took before I bet on the river?"
After clarifying the unexpected question, the German guessed nearly four minutes in total. The real total Negreanu had on his watch was two minutes and 45 seconds. He probably wants a faster game. - RJ

5:50pm: Young Masters Level 5 - Blinds 1, 200-2, 400 (300 Antes)
Everyone at the Champions Table (see below) has the right to peer down on their opponents with a little condescension, the way a top player observes inferior prey. This may actually be the first time that the old adage "If you can't find any suckers at the table..." doesn't apply. There just aren't any suckers at the table.
That said, Fedor Holz is the most irresistible force in poker right now. Holz is on one of the hottest winning streaks today. In a recent hand, Jason Mercier opened under the gun and Scott Seiver called from the button. Holz called from the big blind and everyone saw a flop of 5 J 2.
Holz and Mercier checked, but Seiver bet 12, 500. Holz called, convincing Mercier.
J comes on the turn, and Holz bets 14, 000. SEIVER called and saw the river of K. Holz checked again, and SEIVER wanted to bet and was crazy. Holz checked again, and SEIVER was fluttering to bet.
Holz put out a table 9, and the pocket pairs were enough. SEIVER mac.
Holz has now risen to 280, 000 and SEIVER has dropped to 125, 000. In the next hand, Holz gained 6, 000 from SEIVER. This time, Mike McDonald opened 6, 000 from the early position, and SEIVER called from the cu t-off. Holz asked SEIVER to count (he was able to see the McDonald stack on the other side of the table) and raised 25, 000.
McDonald folded immediately and SEIVER was folded. -HS

5:44 PM: Percentage Game Level 5-Blind 1, 200-2, 400 (300 Anti) If you have been worried about how many chips the players of the Super Hailorer have, there is an answer. Aside from whether or not it is accurate, there is an answer from Joe Mckeehen.
Nick Petrangelo asked him and Sean Winter as to how many percentage of McKeeen would have for each player. The money was sought and received, the prediction was made, and the mobile phone was entered so that there was no back.
"Mackey said." 37
Suddenly, the winter jumped out of the chair. "Give money!" He couldn't control himself.
Give the money to that man!
Someone asked him for his money, as if it was not clear. The winter shouted 37. He received the money. By the way, Petrangelo answered 40 %.
Machan explained his thoughts, pointing each player in order.
"I thought it was 100 ... He pointed to Eric Side, saying 100. When he said, he waved his arms and pointed to another player.
No one knows if this is close to the truth. -SB
5:43 PM: GREENWOOD is a level 5 who does not care about Kenney's be d-blinds 1, 200-2, 400 (300 anti)
Timothy Adams opens 6, 000 from the middle position, and Bryn Kenney calls from the button. Later, Sam Greenwood fell three to 21, 000 from the small blinds, Adams was forced to fold, but Kenney was sticky.
Kenney called the flop after 9 a 9 and Greenwood led 17, 400. Turn is 5. This time, Greenwood checked, and Kenney did a 39, 600 bed. Greenwood made a little and called.
The river was a 3. Greenwood checked again, and Kenney bet 150, 000. Greenwood collected his calling chips and placed them on his cards, realizing that if he called and lost he would only have about 50, 000 left. He grinned and thought about it for a few minutes before finally letting go. -MH

5:24pm: Perkins tries 3 Level 5 - Blinds 1, 200-2, 400 (300 Antes)
Back at level 5 and short stacked, Bill Perkins immediately felt for the second time today. But he had already run to the cashier and bought back in for the third time, bringing the total number of entries to 44.
Late registration (and re-entry) continues until the start of Day 2 tomorrow. Last year's event attracted 50 total entries, with a prize pool of $6, 402, 000, with winner Steve O'Dwyer taking home the lion's share of $1, 872, 580. -MH
A third time... well, we'll see. Right, Bill?
5:19pm: World Champ on a roll Level 5 - Blinds 1, 200-2, 400 (300 Antes)
Joe McKeehen is making his debut at the Super High Roller tables (at least those operated under the PokerStars banner) but he's continued his strong run at the World Series. He's currently sitting at nearly 400, 000 chips, and at least judging by his recent three-handed run, he seems to be putting them to good use.
McKeehen made two pair with jack nine to beat Conor Drinan's pocket queens and called a 26, 000 bet on the river. McKeehen raised to 6, 000 from the cutoff and Winter called from the big blind.
The flop came 3 A J and both players checked. Winter checked, saw McKeehen reach for his stack, and then slammed his cards into the muck with the force of a man who'd just lost more than 6, 000 tournament chips.
McKeehen seemed intent on playing most of the hand, and on the next hand he handed 6, 000 back to Drinan. This pot would get bigger as the night went on.
Joe McKeehen 5:17pm: Justin Trusted Level 5 - Blinds 1, 200/2, 400 (300 Antes) As mentioned above, all the Super High Roller tables are tough, but the so-called "champion table" consisting of Steve O'Dwyer, Mustafa Kanit, Justin Bonomo, and Ole Siemion may be the toughest. Bonomo took a great pot here from the perennial high roller champion, O'Dwyer.
In a unusual hairstyle battle, ponytail O'Dwyer raised 5, 800, and a new redhead BONOMO (some may call it pink) with a button. O'Dwyer bet 7, 500 on the K 10 5 flop, and Bonomo called. The turn is A, and O'DWYER beds 13, 000. Bonomo called again. O'Dwyer slowed down on the river of Q, and the action pattern changed. O'Dwyer bet on 30, 000 with a hardship.
A few minutes have passed, and he eventually called the chips in the middle. BONOMO had A J. 1-0 redhead.
Despite the skirmish, O'DWYER had a large amount of 280, 000 money, and BONOMO had a large amount of 240, 000 money. -RJ

4:55 pm: What will change in one year last year, if you look at our interviews, you may have learned an article about PCA's many years of staff, Tammy Ward. At this time last year, Ward was facing a harsh cancer treatment for one year. Fortunately, while we were around the tournament venue, Ward was here, worked hard, and handed our chocolate (certainly with alcohol). This year, we are delighted to see Wards very energetic in the happy face we saw. Welcome back, Tammy. -BW

4:29 PM: Oh, so it took so long? Level 4-Blind 1, 000-2, 000 (300 Anti)
I only need to know exactly how this pot started, but it's too old, so it's like trying to remember my childhood memories after drinking alcohol. (Approximately 15 minutes from shuffle to push the pot, it has nothing to do with the staff Tammy Ward giving us a chocolate with alcohol.)
In any case, the pots are already a little swollen, and we agreed with 28, 000 in the Q-6 flop, with two people, Christoch VogelSang and Byron Kaverman. Especially when the check was checked in eight turns, it was not immediately known why it took more than a minute for each judgment.
Byron Coverman: I can't hurry
The river was a 3. After recovering from our chocolate hangover, we waited for Volgelsang to tank for a long time. Kaverman struggled to decide but ended up betting 107, 000. Now it was Volgelsang's turn to think and we asked for more chocolate. When he finally decided, it was all-in for 130, 400.
Vogelsang vs Kaverman
At this point Kaverman thought for a while again but decided he couldn't fold after all. No surprise there. He had K K . To his chagrin, Vogelsang had A A , which put him up to 300, 000 and Kaverman down to 100, 000.
That's why it took so long. -BW

From middle position, Ankush Mandavia opens for 5, 000, with Keith Lehr in the big blind making the only call.
The flop and turn action on a 5 10 A 3 board is fast, with Lehr check-calling bets of 7, 000 and 18, 000. The river 9 slows things down, but Mandavia isn't having it. He bets 55, 000 to empty his clip, and Lehr looks interested, but eventually walks away. NW

4:30 PM Gunfight and Poker in Mexico City Level 4 - Blinds 1, 000-2, 000 (300 Antes)
"You live in Mexico City?" Anotonio Esfandiari asked JC Alvardo. "Is it safe?"
"Yeah. I've been in a gunfight before, but it was just by chance."
The conversation around Mexico City continued at the table, and Alvarado described the crazy poker they play there. Lots of bets, cards dealt face up, and thousands of big blinds.
"If no one beats the ace at the end, the players put their money in the middle and play heads-up again," Alvarado said. "They play 2, 000 big blinds deep.
That's a lot more than the 250 he started the tournament with and a lot more than Alvarado's 20 in his loss to Esfandiari.
The Mexico City story ended when Esfandiari raised to 4, 500 from the cutoff. Alvarado three-bet to 13, 500 and Esfandiari called. The flop came 9 6 2 and Alvarado bet 14, 000.
Esfandiari raised to 31, 000 and Alvarado called.
The turn came a 6 and both players checked. The river was an A and both players checked again.
Alvarado showed a pair of eights with 7 8, but Esfandiari had the better kicker with K 8.

Igor Kurganov raises under the gun to 4, 500, Dan Shak reraises from the cutoff to 13, 500. The action folds back to Kurganov, who goes all-in for another 39, 900.
Shak calls, showing K J to Kurganov's A K. Kurganov was in the lead and doubled up with an ace on a board of A 5 3 8 J.
Kurganov doubled up to about 90, 000 while Shak dropped to 315, 000. -AV
3:55pm Fedor Holz's Golden Run
On January 6, Fedor Holz told the PokerStars Blog, "Fedor seems like a good guy. Here's an interview with Nick Wright, the German phenom who's won $5 million in the last two weeks. "It's addictive."
3:49pm: Perkins doubles through Haxton
Level 4 - Blinds 1, 000-2, 000 (300 Antes)
Playing his second time in the tournament, Bill Perkins was again short-stacked and caught in a hand with Isaac Haxton, who was sitting to his right. After building a small pot and watching the flop come up 3 10 8, Haxton leans over to see what Perkins has, forcing his neighbor to go all in and Perkins calls.
Perkins has 9 9, the best hand currently against Haxton's A 4. Neither the K turn nor the 6 river gives Haxton a flush, and Perkins survives. By the count, he calls the flop bet for 51, 200, so he's now up to about 120, 000 while Haxton is down to 175, 000. -MH

3:30pm: Selbst doesn't back down Level 3 - Blinds 800/1, 600 (200 Antes)
Vanessa Selbst tends to get the action wherever she goes in the poker world. This time, she wasn't the initiator, but she did win a three-way hand that involved Ole Schemion, Ankush Mandavia, and herself.
Selbst started action with 3, 200 min i-rays, and there was a call from Mandavia on the button. KURGANOV was folded with smal l-blind, and Schemion was pumped to 17, 500. Selbst took time and asked about the number of Chemion's behin d-th e-scenes. The answer was about 180, 000. After all, she called and called Mandavia.
Schemion checked 9 a 9 flops, and this time Selbst bet 22, 500. Mandavia immediately folded. Schemion thought about the situation for a while, but ended up with the same conclusion that Selbst had collected pots.
Schemion is working at 185, 000. -RJ
3:20 PM: Shakerchi Setup Level 3-Blind 800-1, 600 (200 Anti)
Talal Shakerchi has hit five sets and is now far higher than the average.
This hand started with a cu t-of f-layer of Daniel Dvoress to 4, 500. Shakerchi was called from the button, and Bill Perkins was also called from the big blinds.
DVORESS bet 10, 000 with a 2 5-j flop, and Shakerchi called. Shakerchi bet 25, 500 with a well hidden set. DVORESS called, and 8 completed the board.
Talal Shakerchi: Hidden well 5
When DVORESS checked again, Shakerchi released a 51, 500 finalbet. DVORESS was called, and Shakerchi gave 5 5 55.
With this hand, Shakerchi went up to about 430, 000, and DVORESS dropped to 245, 000. -AV
3:24 PM: High Roller champ collision level 3-blind 800-1, 600 (200 anti)
MustAPHA KANIT in a sports jacket like a technique colored dream coat is open from the middle position to 4, 000. The Rays was folded back to KANIT, and KANIT looked for a while before calling the raises.
Mustafa Canit, walking Ishihara test
The flop is 5 J 8. KANIT, who won the high roller for one day in the EPT11 Grand Finals in Monte Carlo and won the high roller in EPT12 Barcelona, of course, checked the O'Dwyer, who won the event in the 2015 PCA. O'Dwyer pushed 15, 000 beds, and KANIT thought for a while before calling.
Both players checked the turn of A and the river of Q. Kanit showed 98 Nine, but O'Dwyer's K K was the best and he recovered the pot. O'Dwyer is now 390, 000, and Kanit has reached 175, 000. -MH
3:21 PM: Kruganov, recovery mode level 3-blind 800-1, 600 (200 anti)
Igor Kurganov's first $ 100, 000 bullet is still flying, but he has to rebuild it over the day. After passing most of the 250, 000 stacks to Fedor Holz, Kurganov succeeded in putting the last 25, 000 chips in K Q for Vanessa Selbst K K. The board was advantageous to KURGANOV. 7 6 A J gained a flash and achieved a double of 50, 000.

3:18 PM: Level 3 that was not lat e-blind 800-1, 600 (200 anti)
In a previous post, I thought that Sorel Mizzi and Keith Lehr participated in the Super Hylorfield, but I need to correct them. In fact, Mizzi plays with a nearby $ 1, 100 turbo. Lehr, on the other hand, sits on the rails of the Super Hylor with a real money chip and a wad. -BW
3:15 pm: Level 3-Blind 800/1, 600 (200 Anti)
To reach the superhiler level in poker, you must know how to play aggressively. Rays, Relays, Squeeze, and Cold Forbets are all important repertoers for modern top players. Nevertheless, when level 3 begins, a lot of checks are performed on the field.
The first check was performed between Steve O'Dwyer and Antonio Esfandiari, and the hand was checked to the river after the raises and calls on the pr e-flop. Esfandiari small beds promoted O'Dwyer fold.
In search of more exciting places, I moved to the Bill Perkins table. PERKINS, known for its wild play style, has a good start from the early position to 4, 000 and has a good start. Big Blind ISAAC HAXTON was the only coroller. There was a possibility of a 5-k4 flop. Check, check. Check, check. HAXTON bets about 2 big blinds on the river, and Perkins sna p-call.
This tournament is still in the feeling of feeling. -RJ
3:10 PM: HOLZ Bet, Mandavia Call Level 3-Blind 800-1, 600 (200 Anti)
Fedor Holz is busy. He decided on folds from Vanessa Selbst on a 65 2 3 board, and in the next hand, he dealt with Ankush Mandavia.
314 flops were distributed, holts were bet, and Mandavia called. The turn card of K was the same. Mandavia checked Holz, and Holz fell 9, 000 to call and call.

This time, river card, 4. Holz picked up 28, 000 in a very slow motion and put it out. Mandavia made a little and called. Holz showed a pocket five, but Mandavia showed Q 10.

3:05 PM: Level 3 in winter consecutive win s-blind 800-1, 600 (200 anti)
"When I won the last, Sean?"
Looking at the Sean Winter, which was raised in the late position, Joe Mckeehen asked. Winter thought for a while, looked at the tournament clock, and gave an answer.
"Just 28 minutes ago," he replied. "Okay, I got on," Mckeehen protected the blinds with a call while grinning.
The flop was Q 2 3, and after Mckeehen checked, Winter did a continuation bed. "I'm not going to wait any more," Mckeehen gave up while grinning, expressing his card as small, suit, and black.
While recovering the pot, Winter asked the ISAAC Baron on the left if he had any trouble with the bad opponent in the cash game. Winter showed evidence to be supported, laughing that Baron did not make any work in the cash game he used to play. -MH

NOAH SchWartz raises from hijack to 4, 000, and Sean Winter rises to 13, 200 from the cu t-off. Nick Petrangelo sets 36, 000 from small blinds, and Schwartz is folded.
Winter calls, and the flop is Q 10 2. The two players checked and checked again when 8 came out on the turn.

2:50 PM: Newcomer, cheap level 3-blind 800-1, 600 (200 anti)
The first two levels were over, and the table began to fill. Mike McDonald, Dan Shak, Keith Lehr, Antonio Esfandiari, Mustapha Kanit, and Sorel Mizzi have appeared in the tournament area.
Connor Dolinan was there, but only half a second was passed before the tournament staff rushed. Somewhere spit out a strange tournament ticket, and the Dorinan stub was 1000 Dolterbo. Drinan will be able to roll (Super High) immediately. -BW
2:45 PM: Level 3 Start Level 3-Blind 800-1, 600 (200 Anti)
The player returned from the break and took his seat, and level 3 began. The big board has 36 entries. The newly entered players are BYRON KAVERMAN, DAN SHAK, Antonio Esfandiari, and Mustapha Kanit. -MH
At 2:30 pm, Petrangelo's dominance, 33 brea k-time counts 33 players entered today's first break. The field continues to increase, and only Bill Perkins is still r e-entering. The break time chip count is posted on the chip count page. He pulled the perkins in the early stages and did not follow.

PCA 2016: Two weeks five million, the Fedor Holz show
Fedor holz, foamhose
It was an incredible two weeks for Fedor Holtz. He won the WPT $ 100, 000ALPHA8 in Las Vegas on December 19 and got a wonderful Christmas present, and won the $ 200, 000 WPT Super Hiler Event held in the Philippines on January 4th. The year started brilliantly. His double prize exceeded $ 5, 000, 000.
"Holtz said in between playing with the PCA $ 100, 000 Super High Roller. You might think about winning in one tournament, but it was even" good. " I was just happy to finish this year in the best form. "
Holtz's first win was a dream come true, as he entered the final table with a big chip lead and basically cruised to victory. "Tournament results vary widely," he says. "From short stacks to big chip leads, everything went my way in that tournament."
His second win was more unexpected. With five players left, Holtz went all-in with king-queen against Phil Ivey's pocket queens, then spiked his king to survive. "I remember playing $200, 000 Manila and being all-in and in fifth place," he says.
It's sweet relief for Holtz, who has had a number of close calls on the live stage since he made headlines by winning the WCOOP Main Event in September 2014.
In the 2015 EPT, he placed ninth in the EPT11 Malta Main Event and seventh and fourth in the EPT11 Grand Final €100, 000 and €50, 000 Super High Rollers. Those near misses were followed by third and sixth places in the WSOP's big buy-in events. Holz made many final tables in 2015. "I think I'm a guy who's always thinking about winning tournaments," Holz said. "I came close a lot, but when you miss out on winning 10 times, you start to doubt yourself a little bit. So it was a relief to finally win. Even if it had ended before I won Alpha 8, it would have been a great year. After his win in Asia, his 2016 wasn't bad either, and the big score positively influenced how Holz will approach poker this year. "My plans have changed a little bit. I've already achieved my goals for the year, so the pressure and motivation is gone. So I won't be going around Vegas for six weeks. This year will probably be more fun, not hardcore. It's all like freerolls now, it's unbelievable." As a side effect of Holz's Super High Roller double, you can feel the confidence pumping through his veins when he sits down at the poker table. "It's ridiculous, I'm waiting for it to be over. It's ridiculous, I'm waiting for it to be over. But it's not over.
As we've seen today, Holtz's run shows no signs of stopping.

2:20 PM: Level 2 without anything that is better than a free lunc h-blind 600-1, 200 (200 anti)
Interesting hands were developed between DANI STERN and Stephen Chidwick, as the Super Hyflor players were standing up for a break. The STERN was raised in the middle position, CHIDWICK was 3 beds, and STERN was 4 to 15, 000. Chidwick, who was sitting right next to it, put a chip and call.
When STERN bet 16, 000 with a 67 3-3 flop, Chidwick r e-called. The turn was 5 and the board was four straight. This time, STERN slowed down and checked. However, CHIDWICK was not so kind, out of 32, 000 and pulled out the folds from STERN. It wasn't a big pot that the enthusiastic fans on the rails were waiting for, but if STERN and Chidwick continue to fight like this, that's a matter of time.

2:15 pm Holtz overwhelmed Krganov level 2-blind 600-1, 200 (200 anti)
Fedor Holz was not satisfied with the victory in the most recent Super Hyloller and chose Igor Kurganov for today's opponent. The first battle was performed in a pot that was forced to abandon Vanessa Selbst and Ole Schemion with a raised, threebet, and forbets. When Holz pushed 143, 900 al l-in, Kurganov has finally won 70, 000. KURGANOV had a pair of 7 against Holz A K. Holz took the ace with the flop and decided to doubl e-up. A few minutes later, Holz was raised under the cancer and received a call from Ankush Mandavia and Kurganov. KURGANOV checked at 7 JA on the flop, and Holz was 4, 500. Mandavia folded, but Kurganov was called. KURGANOV led at 8, 500 on J's turn, and Holz called on the behind. KURGANOV checked 14, 000 check calls on A River and saw Holz A 8.

2:09pm: Bonomo folds after Petrangelo shoves Level 2 - Blinds 600-1200 (200 ante)
As the second level of the day drew to a close, I picked up the turn hand of Nick Petrangelo (cutoff) and Justin Bonomo (button).
The board was 6 8 4 K with about 60k in the middle, and after Petrangelo checked, Bonomo bet 32k. Petrangelo check-raised to 90k and Bonomo called.
The river showed a J, and without much hesitation Petrangelo announced he was all-in with a stack close to the current size of the pot (about 240k). Bonomo counted his chips (about 165, 000) and thought for three minutes before deciding to fold. -MH

2:00pm: Give your phone a rest Mercier Level 2 - Blinds 600-1, 200 (200 Antes)
Jason Mercier arrived early and was immediately at home. There was also a slight change in technology. Tired of actually holding his phone while communicating with the outside world, he brought along a device to ease the strain.
If that helps him focus on winning chips, it might be working. Mercier opened under the gun with 2, 700 and was called by Bill Perkins and Thomas Muehloecker.
Mercier bets again on a flop of 2 10 9, this time for 5, 000 with a single blue chip. Both players check and the river card comes up, a K. Perkins has ten-jacks, Mercier has pocket queens. With both hands free, he stacks his chips.
Mercier recovers to 200, 000, while Perkins drops to 210, 000 with a second round of bullets. - SB
1:55pm: Sound of Silence Level 2 - Blinds 600-1, 200 (200 Antes)
Despite a buy-in equivalent to the guarantee of a three-bedroom house* in West London, there's usually more table chatter and laughter at this super high roller than at any other event. But not at Table 2. Stoic expressions and robotic movements are the theme today. Eric Seidel, Joe McKeown, Shawn Winter, Noah Schwartz and Justin Bonomo, who dyed his hair rooster red for the occasion, help set the tone.
A small pot happened in silence. SEIDEL raised 3, 000 from hijack, SCHWARTZ was cu t-off and winter called with button, and Bonomo called with a big blind. 7 10 After SEIDEL checked the flop, the Schwartz bet, and only bonomo called. The two checked on the turn and BONOMO checked again on 9 rivers. This time, Schwartz finished the check and gave out 11, 100 and won a pot.
Meanwhile, in Protein-Gate, the fitness king, Jason Koon, finally arrived at the Super Hyloller. Koon had stretched his arms and legs for several minutes, as if the Warmin g-up of the UFC title match, but finally reached the tournament. -RJ

1:45 PM: Perkins stack recovers to level 2-blind 600-1, 200 (200 anti)
Bill Perkins was deprived of a big pot by Daniel Dvoress and dropped to 130, 000. However, he earned a big pot against ISAAC Baron and recovered.
Baron started the action, ray from Under Zagan +1 to 3, 500, and PERKINS three to 10, 000 from big blinds.
This is a perkins thre e-pot consecutive, and he set 10, 000 with 8 102 flops, and Baron immediately called. 9 dropped on the turn, PERKINS was a bed again, this time 28, 000, Baron put a call chip again.
On the river, K, Perkins was a little slow to act, but he didn't slow down and bet 53, 000.
Baron stroked his upper lip. "Good thing you didn't bet right away!" Perkins laughed at the table. "I've got a big hand, I don't want to fold," Perkins said.
After another 20 seconds or so, Perkins said: "It's not that big," Baron replied, and added:
Then he sighed a couple of times and looked back at his cards. "When I look back at my hand, I'm 66 percent likely to fold," Baron said.

The turn was a K, and Vogelsang checked again. Seiver dumped out one green chip (worth 25K) and announced a bet of 13, 000. Vogelsang tanked for nearly three minutes and called the bet. A five came on the river, and both players checked relatively quickly.
Vogelsang flipped Q 9 for nine and five, and when Seiver mucked, he knew he had a good hand.

Jason Mercier, who had no hot water in the room and lost a Pokerstars hat, appeared a little later than others. There was only ISAAC HAXTON on the Perkins table.
HAXTON said, "Perky is already eating the second bullet." Mercier showed an incredible swing. "No way!"
Mercier told the table from the button to 2, 200 (this was the end of Level 1). Perkins made a full smile of having already doubled the prize than anyone in this tournament and raised to 6, 000. Mercier called with his passport behind the chip.
PERKINS led 6, 000 with the 8 9 2 flop, and Mercier called. Perkins did not slow down two turns. This time, Mercier calls for 12, 000. River is 3. It was 30, 000 that I called. Mercier was struggling with the decision on the first hand at the table. After a minute, he asked, "2 King?" Perkins was sitting silently.
Mercier was folded. Perkins looked at his card again and said, "I definitely don't have two kings."

There is no lack of entertainment in PCA.
If you don't aim for a six or seve n-digit prize money in poker, you can swim in the sea, compete with a water slider, or get on dolphins.
You can also play with Atari.
Immediately next to Super Hyorer is a larg e-screen TV and three Atari consoles with luxurious gaming chairs.
Both the audience and the player can choose the one you like from the centipede, asteroids, and missile commands.
At the Scott Saber table, flowers bloomed in the game console, the first Nintendo Entertainment System was released in 1984, and it was in Europe that the Sega Master system became ful l-fledged in Europe. Ta.
It was a nostalgic story for most people, but it was news for Fedor Holtz.
"Saber told Holtz," You're like you were born after the N64. "
Steve Odweyer said, "I had to explain what Y2K was during this time."
Holtz in his early 20s may not have regained his senses until the late 1990s, but has already earned more than $ 7 million in tournaments.
More than $ 5 million is due to two high rollers he won in the past 30 days. And now he is trying another high roller and studying history in the process.

1:20 PM: I like the smell of morning protein level 2-Blind 600-1, 200 (200 Anti)
There are several smells associated with poker players, but not all of them. However, Igor Kurganov believes that today's Super Hyloller Field smells completely different.
It is a wel l-known fact that many recent poker players prefer physical condition management, especially for top players. However, for Kurganov, today's Super Hylorfield was too much protein intake.
He said to Ole Semion. "Are you drinking protein shake?" When Germans shake their heads, Kruganov's interrogation moved to Holtz. Holtz also denied the claim (despite the poker's strange talent at Atlantis gym).
At the end of their denial, Krganov was responsible for JC Albarado, who was in a table, and concluded the investigation. Krganov shouted, "The smell of protein is from here!" And watched the other healthy participants to approve it. Alvarad did not affirm or deny the accusation.
Today, PCA will provide you with all the protei n-related information. Protein shake, protein bar, and above all the sightings of Jason Koon. -RJ

1:05 pm O'DWYER Dents Holz Level 1 --K blind 500-1, 000 (100 Anti)
Just a few days ago, Fedor Holz and Steve O'Dwyer advanced to the WPT $ 200, 000 Super Hyorer final table in the Philippines. At that time, Holz won the $ 3, 463, 500, and O'DWYER finished fourth at $ 953, 700.
Today, they are drawn to the same table and are separated by dealers, but they are actually next to them. O'Dwyer exceeded Holz with a big pot that reached the river.
Steve O'Dwyer: From Manila
HOLZ opened to 2, 500 from the cu t-off, and the O'Dwyer was called after the button to 8, 500.
The dealer showed a flop of 843, checking Holz, O'DWYER's 12, 000 beds, and Holz calls. 4 hit 4 on the turn, and Holz checked again. A few seconds later, O'dwyer lifted a bunch of green 25k chips, put the bottom chip in a pot with the index finger, and returned the rest to its original location.
This time, Holz continued to tank for a long time, but both players watched the Green Tip in a pot like O'Dwyer, and that J completed the board. Holz confirmed again while the dealer was confirming the number of decks. O'Dwyer didn't take much time to get a 54, 000 bet, but Holz continued the longest tank in this hand.
Eventually he chose folds and the pot crossed O'DWYER. -Nw

1PM: Mckeehen Felts Perkins Level 1-Blind 500-1, 000 (100 Anti)
Joe Mckeehen opened 3, 000 from Under Zagan, and Bill Perkins called the Rays from the next position. He was folded to Sam Greenwood on the button, and he three three to 12, 000. Mckeehen was called and Perkins was also called.
Bill Perkins considers options
The flop was 348. Mckeehen and Perkins were checked, and Greenwood continued 16, 400 beds. Mckeehen called the bet and Perkins said he would al l-in to the dealer sitting on his left. Greenwood folded immediately, and mckeehen called in less time.
Mckeehen tabled the top pair 8 and 10 8 of the flash draw, and Perkins showed the same flash draw and gut shot 6 2 and grinned.
Joe Mckeehan: WSOP Champ
"Red Five!" When the dealer made A turn, Perkins said with expectation. The river of J was decided, and the last stack of Perkins was sent to the 2015 World Series of Poker main event champion.
However, Perkins seems to be back again and is in contact with where to r e-enter.
12. 55PM: Newey Up, HAXTON Down Level 1-Blind 500-1, 000 (100 Anti)
In the table 3, ISAAC HAXTON bet 2, 500 from the under zagan, and the button Paul Newey calls with 262 flops. HAXTON wasied again, this time it was 2, 800, but Newey was raised to 8, 000 and HAXTON called.
K came out on the turn. HAXTON hits the table like Newey, and the river card is 5. Check again HAXTON. NEWEY bet 20, 000, and the dealer said "TWENNY".
"Paul, you would have done it easily." This is not easy at all. Newi sipped water from the bottle, Hakston apologized to everyone that it took a long time. I called the call and saw Newi put out a pocket queen.
"It's a nice hand." I was expecting something less or less.
12:50 PM: Shakerchi, good start level 1-blind 500-1, 000 (100 anti)
One of the most vacant table 2, one of the largest pots today, traveled to British players Talal Shakerchi. The button was folded to Shakerchi, and he raised 3, 000, three times the big blind. When the EPT Prague Super Hyloller Champion Steve O'Dwyer calls from a small blind, Christoch VogelSang threets into 13, 500 from the big blind.
Shakerchi called in a position, and O'DWYER left the place. VogelSang continued to be aggressive by betting 14, 000 with A 8 K flop. Shakerchi called again. The board became a pair in Turn 8, and this time VogelSang was slow down and checked. Shakerchi bet 27, 100, and after a little silence, Vogelsang called. The river was safe 2.
Vogelsang chose a check again and immediately faced a large 51, 200 beds from a British businessman. Here, VogelSang in Germany entered his own world and stared at the space for a few minutes until he made his decision. The decision was a call. However, Shakerchi immediately turned 98 and issued a tri p-eight that hit the turn. This was enough to get 215, 000 chip pots.
With Shakerchi's chips pushing, Fedor Holz and Dani Stern join the action and the tables start to fill up. Table 2 is sure to be filled with even bigger pots.
12:47pm: Mercier is coming... maybe naked. Level 1 - blinds 500-1, 000 (100 antes)
If you're wondering where team pro Jason Mercier is, don't worry. He's coming.
But fear not. Registration is open all day. By that time, Mercier may be in hot water too.
12:35pm Me! Wait... what can I say? Level 1 - blinds 500-1, 000 (100 antes)
The Super High Rollers have expanded to three tables, with Isaac Haxton and Ole Schemion at the same table. You'd think that these two would be a little more comfortable, having been playing such big games together for a while. Apparently not.
"Hello, Mr. Siemion," Haxton said, sitting down at the table.
Hello, Mr. Siemion.
Before Siemion could reply, Haxton asked the question that's probably puzzled everyone over the last few years: How does Ole Siemion pronounce his first name?
"O-rah," Siemion said. "O-rah?" Haxton tried. "Nice one," Siemion allowed. "I was closer!" Haxton said.
Siemion lowered his voice and said, "I was closer."
With eight levels to go, the two might discuss favorite colors by the time they bag and tag. -BW
12:32pm: Petrangelo takes from Perkins
Level 1 - Blinds 500-1, 000 (100 ante)
Isaac Haxton opens UTG with 2, 500, and Nick Petrangelo three-bet to 8, 500 in late position. He folds back to Bill Perkins in the big blind. Ever-active, Perkins had just won the previous two hands (both in small pots) and decided to rejoin the action by reraising to 8, 500. Petrangelo thought for a moment before calling the raise.
Both players checked a flop of 6 3 K, and after a 9 on the turn, Perkins bet 54, 000. Petrangelo called again cautiously.
The river was an 8. Petrangelo said he would call after a few seconds.
"Perkins put his J J on the table and nodded in acknowledgement when Petrangelo showed the favored A A .-MH.
Nick Petrangelo - 415, 000 Bill Perkins - 155, 000
12:25pm: Cold Luxury Level 1 - Blinds 500-1, 000 (100 Antes)
Paying $ 100, 000 to make a chilly feeling in Bahamas will be a special, united group.
"Where is the scarf? Scott Saber asked Steve Odwire." It's here, "Odwirer took out the scarf from under the table and wore it. "Wait." Put me on me. "
Dvoves stirred his back and wrapped his neck with hig h-end insulation.
"I have to buy it," said Shakerch.
The cold room seems to be one of the few poker tournaments, but the action of the Super Hilerer has begun to get warmer.
While Seiver was asking O'dwyer about his cervical clothing, he was caught in the hand of Christoch VogelSang and Daniel Dvoress.
With that hand, VoGeslang raised 2, 900 from the button, and SEIVER and DVORESS called from blinds.
All three checked the 4 a K flop, and 7 came out on the turn. SEIVER was 3, 300 beds, Dvoress was folded, VogelSlang was called. The board ends with 9 and SEIVER checks.
VoGeslang bet 5, 500, and SEIVER called after thinking. Vogeslang bets A 5, and SEIVER mac.
In this pot, Vogeslang went up to about 255, 000, and SEIVER dropped to 238, 000.
12:30 PM: History of PCA Super Hailorer
The 2016 version of the PCA Super Hilerer is the sixth time where the $ 100, 000 ba y-in event is held here. What history tells you about this event is that the big name wins.
Five champions have won more than $ 51 million prizes, helping victory at the event. For three of them, Steve O'Dwyer, Fabian Quoss, and Viktor Blom, the winning of the PCA Super Hyloller has won the largest prize in live tournaments, and for the other two, Scott Seiver and Eugene Katchlov. , In addition, he won the top position with a greater prize money.
Last year's PCA Super High Roller had an entry with a total of 66 (50 unique entry and 16 reentral), the largest ever. It may be still small now, but the late regulation is possible until the second day, so it may exceed the total last year.

2014 | 46 | The first raise in the Super High Roller event came from Isaac Haxton. It was the first hand of the PCA. He played four-handed, opened on the button, and was called by Paul Newey and Justin Bonomo in the blinds. The flop came 4, 6, 10, and Bonomo bet down. Timothy Adams took his seat. | 12:12pm: Shuffle & Deal Level 1 - Blinds 500-1, 000 (100 Antes) |
2015 | 66 | A short time later, the first hand was dealt. Justin Bonomo and Scott Seiver were also seated, and watched the first hand along with the aforementioned Vogelsang, Haxton, and Shakerchi. | 12:05pm: Perkins wanted to play |
As mentioned before, the Super High Roller event rarely starts on time, and this was no different. The six tables were set with dealers and chips, but the dealers outnumbered the players.
Bill Perkins was among the small group of players who arrived, and the American businessman seemed especially eager to get started. He tried to convince Paul Newey to get up and sign up, but with little success. The others who arrived at the scheduled start time were: Ike Haxton, Christoph Vogelsang, and Talal Shakerchi.
The latter was eating fruit salad and talking to EPT photographer Neil Stoddart. Let's hope the delay isn't too long.
Dealer ready
11:55am: Top 6
Play starts in 5 minutes, but there may be delays. So far, six players have signed up, but that probably won't be enough to get started. These ultra-high rollers are good at poker, but are they punctual? Not really. The six who have already paid are: Ankush Mandavia, Daniel Dvoress, Joseph McKeehen, Paul Newey, Talal Shakerchi, and Bill Perkins.
11:30am: Set the stage
30 minutes before play begins on the first day of the 2016 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure, we're back on Paradise Island in the Bahamas, kicking off with the festival's biggest buy-in yet, the $100, 000 Super High Roller event.

EPT12 Prague: Third time's a charm for champion Hossein Ensan
To understand how he did it, we need to go back 11 hours, to when the final table began.
ILKIN AMIROV (Russia) 7, 785, 000 Thomas Butzhammer (Germany) 5, 490, 000 Slaven Popov , 000 Olivier Ferrero (France) 1, 715, 000
ENSAN fell below 1 million chips in the first 45 minutes, but most of them failed several times and bruffed Tremzin's trip ace. Later, when Tremzin was raped to 265, 000, and when Olivier Ferrero jamed, ENSAN was al l-in. Tremzin made a concession, and the Ferrero pocket 5 and ENSAN A Q were confronted. The board was Q2 J 10 10, and ENSAN returned to 2, 225, 000, but only 395, 000 remained.
After the hand, Ferrero won the rest of 98 against AK of Thomas Butzhammer. This was not a game. Butzhammer flops the trip king, and Ferrero gained € 166, 000 in sixth place.
Olivier Ferrero
The night before the final table, Butzhammer had dinner at a local Vietnamese for house, but hardly cooked.
"I'm so nervous that I can't eat it," he returned to Prague's night.
No matter what Butshamar said, he played a fearless play in the first two hours and led the chips by the first break. Butshamar looked at the other players competing with each other, looking much more than he said.
Butshamar and his big stack
During the next dozens of hands, Slaven Popov, a 4 0-yea r-old Bulgarian, has experienced ENSAN and EPT final table in the past, clarifying how to end the tournament. Acejack faced the chance to al l-in against Ensan's pocket 4, and Popov decided to wait for another place.
"I want to have a hea d-up with you." It's the only reason I don't call. Let's compete with the hea d-up. "
Fate, and Ensan did not try to fulfill Popov's wish. After an hour of play, ENSAN raised the button with A J, and POPOV pushed the last 2, 275, 000 in A 2. EPT Prague does not end like a Buddy movie. POPOV could not find help on the board and got € 226, 330 in fifth place.
"Ensan is a crazy player. It's always very difficult to play with him." The next time you play, you'll definitely defeat him.
After the big hand with this hand and Tremzin, ENSAN raised chips to second place. The situation of the final 4 at that time is:
Tremjin: 11, 275, 000 Ensan: 9, 280, 000 Amirov: 5, 875, 000 Buts hammer 4, 925, 000
The discussion of the deal was prolonged. The winner was prepared 100, 000 euros and the rest was adjusted based on ICM numbers. Butzhammer demanded the addition of € 15, 000. AMIROV and ENSAN gave up € 5, 000 per person, but did not give Tremzin. As a result, the transaction broke down and the flood gate was opened.
Discussion before the deal breaks
After a few hand play, butzhammer was min i-raided by A Q from the button, and ENSAN called J1 from Big Blind. The flop hit the two violently to let the chip stay there. The 9-Q 4 board was an ensan check, butzhammer's al l-in, and the ENSAN snap call. The drama ended with one more piece. In the 8 of the turn, butzhammer was drawn, and he ranked fourth in € 294, 180. With this hand, ENSAN increased chips to 17, 545, 000.
Thomas Butzhammer
AMIROV started with a chip lead, but could not find a way to be involved in the final table. Eventually, there were only 5. 2 million in front of him, and he was folded by a small blind, and he raised at A 9. Butzhammer looked down on A 10 of the big blinds and made AMIROV al l-in. AMIROV had no choice. His chip entered the middle, the dealer gave a board of 8 k 3 7 6 6, and the dream of Azerbaijan was over.
ILKIN AMIROV
Only German Ensan and Russian tremjin were left. This is the battle between the player who advanced to the EPT Main Event Final Table three times and a player who won the WCOOP bracelet three times. It was an atmosphere that seemed to be a fierce hea d-up match, but did not disappoint.
When the heads were up, ENSAN was a slight lead, but neither ENSAN nor TREMZIN did not want to take the risk of getting a lot of money. They cut the rest of the prize pool evenly and left the € 30, 000 for the winner. They played 16 hands and Ensan entered a on e-hour dinner break, keeping 2. 3 million chips leads.
If there was a person who thought this deal would reduce the quality of the poker in the head s-up match, he would have immediately found it. ENSAN and TREMZIN were the intentions of the EPT champion, and turned their heels and played a genuine champions poker. The match had the confusing hand of the observer.
It started with Tremzin raising to 600, 000 with 10 8 from the button. Ensan had 9 7 and reraised to 1. 375 million. Tremzin called and the dealer fanned 8 2 4 in the middle of the table.
It could have easily ended with a single bet, but Ensan checked, forcing Tremzin to bet 475, 000 and then raise to nearly 2 million. Again, it was a bet to end the hand. But it didn't. Tremzin called and the turn was an Ace.
This time Ensan led the action, putting another 2 million in the middle. Tremzin wasn't about to back down and called again. When the K fell on the river, everyone thought Ensan would back off and let it go.
Not so. He bet 1. 3 million.
Tremzin must have picked up something along the way, or decided to turn his hand into a bluff, because he went all-in for over $10 million, even though he didn't have anything better than third pair.
Gleb Tremzin
With no choice left, Ensan folded, and was down nearly three to one in chips.
But Ensan hung on. Over the next seven hands, Ensan lost chips again, nearly evening his stack.
It wasn't over there. In fact, it wasn't over for another two hours. Meanwhile, Ensan wavered, fought, and held on. Eventually he had Tremzin cornered. He had to end it somehow. This is what happened:
Ensign limped on the button with A A against Tremzin's Q J. Tremzin made a play for a million, and Ensan called. The flop was Q [7 [7 . Both players checked the flop cautiously. On the turn of the 9 Tremzin again bets 1 million and again Ensan calls. The river 4 brings up 4. 1 million in the middle and Tremzin bets out, Ensan immediately goes all-in and Tremzin... tanks. Finally he shrugs, moves his chips over the line and is done.
A smiling 51-year-old self-proclaimed amateur, Hossein Ensan, is the EPT champion.
Final table results are below.
EPT12 Prague Main Event Number of entries: 1, 044 Total prize pool: €5, 063, 400 Prizes paid: 151 151
