1. Activer le Mode Jeu dans Windows 11 et Windows 10

The game mode is a buil t-in tool built into Windows 11, and is designed to optimize the system for games, whether playing on a PC just like an old museum or on a PC for your own competition. There is. Disable the background operation, such as Windows updates and application notifications, and improve the frame rate of the game.

The game mode is usually enabled by default in the latest version of Windows 10 and 11. Computers should be able to detect when you are playing games and r e-prioritize various resources accordingly.

The method of enabling Windows 11 game mode to improve the frame rate is as follows (same in Windows 10):

  1. Press and hold Windows + i to open the settings.
  2. Select "Game" from the left menu, click "Game mode", and use the corresponding button.

2. Réduire la résolution

If you don't have a hig h-end gaming PC, you may have to sacrifice graphics to get a better frame rate. With average computer, recent games cannot operate constantly at a very high resolution and 60fps frame rate.

As the resolution increases, the number of pixels displayed on the screen increases, and the resources required for graphic processors increase. Lowering the game resolution makes it easier for graphic processors to reduce the number of pixels in each image, which can improve the frame rate. The graphics will be clear, but this setting will make the game smoother.

Lowering the game resolution improves the frame rate.

If the resolution is changed from 1080p (1080 x 1920) to 900p (900 x 1600), the total number of pixels is reduced by 30 %. If you lower the resolution to 720p, the number of pixels is about half of 1080p, which is an effective way to improve the frame rate, not the most elegant method.

Find the resolution setting in the game option menu. Don't hesitate to test your computer processing capacity and test various possibilities to find the appropriate balance between the graphics quality and the frame rate of Windows 11 games.

Changing the display settings can improve the frame rate.

3. Modifier les paramètres vidéo du jeu

In addition to adjusting the resolution of the game, you can adjust the other video settings of the game to improve the frame rate. Depending on the game, there are simple settings that can adjust the level, such as Ultra, High, Medium, and Low. There are also games that use more precise controls, such as sliders and numerical settings. Try various options and see what the frame rate has.

Try the following settings to see if the game will improve in the game.

  • Details of graphics: Lower certain element quality, such as shadows, lighting, textures, and reflections. The realism of the game may be lost, but the liquidity should be improved.
  • Ant i-alias: Ant i-alias smoothes the edges of various objects displayed in the game. After disabling this feature, gradually restore it until you notice the difference in image quality without affecting the frame rate. If there are various types of ant i-aliasing in the game, try various types and see what will happen.
  • Drawn distance: If possible, shorten the drawing distance so that you do not draw distant objects. If there are few elements to be displayed, graphic processors can focus on available resources in familiar environments.
  • Graphic effect: Reduce or remove the artifacts of blur, reflection, and other light. This reduces the number of concerns of graphics processors and increases the room for improving the frame rate.
  • VSync: The VSync technology designed to prevent the tiering of the image (the monitor is displayed at the same time) synchronizes the refresh rate of games and the refresh rate of the monitor. This may look convenient, and in most cases, it can reduce IPS. Let's disable this function and see how it looks. If the torn image is displayed, turn it back.

The following is part of the Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition options. By reducing these settings by one or more, the IPS evaluation of the Windows 10 game machine should be greatly improved.

Reduce video settings and increase the frame rate

4. Mettre à jour les pilotes de votre carte graphique

The graphic card is the center of the game experience, but if the correct driver is not installed, you will not be able to perform the best performance. Updating the graphic card driver will greatly improve GPI. See this diagram, which is recently announced by NVIDIA, a graphics processor manufacturer, that updates the driver to improve game performance.

By updating to the latest version of the driver, performance has been improved by 23%. Source: NVIDIA

Not bad! Updates are worthwhile.

The following is a method of updating NVIDIA GeForce, ATI Radeon, Intel HD graphic card driver:

  • NVIDIA GEFORCE: Go to the GeForce Driver Web site, select a graphic card and Windows version from the list, and click the search button. The beta version and the driver marked with the beta are not the final version yet, but they should work as in the final version and improve the frame rate. If you have a GeForce EXPERIENCE tool, you will automatically receive the notification as soon as NVIDIA publishes a new driver.
  • ATI Radeon: Access the AMD driver & support website and select the applicable device. This allows you to access the latest official driver version and download and install. You can also install beta drivers to further improve performance and functions.
  • Intel HD Graphic Card: The graphic chipset set mainly on Intel Ultra Book and tablets are the weakest. It is recommended that you do not play the game in HD 3000 or earlier versions, but Intel's latest graphic chipset are not enabled as much as possible, but recent games are recent games. Running is completely possible. To get the latest version of the driver, see the Intel Download area graphics driver page.

Updating the driver can reduce the waiting time for games such as overwatch. Source: NVIDIA

No matter which graphic processor you use, updating the driver will improve the frame rate and Windows 11 is optimized for games. AVG Driver Updater automatically updates all drivers on your computer, so you can always get the best performance. If you don't have to worry about updating the driver, you can focus on more important tasks, such as playing games.

Comment savoir de quelle carte graphique je dispose ?

Follow the steps below to check the accurate manufacturer and serial number of the graphics card:

  1. Move to Control Panel and move to Hardware and Audio.
  2. Click on the device manager. The list of all integrated peripherals in the system is displayed.
  3. Open the graphic card dro p-down list.

The Alienware X51 has two NVIDIA TITAN XP graphic cards.

After checking the graphics card, make sure that the latest version of the driver is used to achieve the best game performance on Windows 11.

5. Supprimer les programmes non utilisés et éliminer les programmes inutiles

Do you have Windows behavior slower or affect the game every time you install a program on your PC? This is because many programs are executed in the background even when not in use, and are waste of computer memory.

AVG Tuneup deletes unnecessary software, uninstalls that you don't use, and improves the efficiency of the necessary programs, improving computer IPS and supporting resourc e-priority. Download the free trial version right now.

When you install AVG Tuneup, you will see a program that has not been used for a while on the "Unnecessary Program" screen. These are completely unnecessary programs, or have been installed a long time ago but have forgotten. Click "Move to the trash" next to the program you want to delete.

Did you find an unnecessary program? Move to the trash can to delete it. AVG Tuneup helps to delete the broatware and all the files and cache.

But what about other programs that use regularly and restrict your daily performance? AVG Tuneup is also useful for adjusting power settings. AVG Tuneup can sleep in these programs and restart only when needed. How to sleep in a program that is not used in AVG Tuneup is as follows:

  1. Open AVG Tuneup. In the hig h-speed thumbnail, click Details to start.
  2. In the startup and background program Samnail, click Details.
  3. AVG Tuneup runs in the background and displays all programs that occupy computer resources. Click all of them to sleep in all programs at once, or click Sleep next to each program to make them one.

The patented sleep mode prevents the selected program from being executed in the background until needed. Thanks to this trick, which sleeps all background tasks that consume a lot of resources, your PC will be like a new one and all games will be faster.

6. Booster le signal Wi-Fi

If the quality of the Internet connection is poor, waiting time may occur during the game. Even if the frame rate is not affected, improving the Wi-Fi signal can reduce waiting time and improve game performance.

7. Ajuster le taux d’actualisation de votre moniteur

Even if a high frame rate is realized, it is meaningless if the refresh rate of the monitor does not keep up with the number of frames per second. To maximize the ability of your processor and graphic processor, and to realize the effects of the frame rate improvement on the screen, make sure that the monitor is set correctly.

How to adjust the refresh rate of the monitor is as follows:

  1. Start Settings from the Start menu and select System.
  2. Click "Display" on the left, scroll down and click "Detailed Display".
  3. From the dro p-down menu, select the higher refresh rate as possible.

8. Configurer les paramètres de votre souris/contrôleur

By default, the cursor records the movement not only at the distance of the mouse, but also by its speed. As a matter of taste, many hig h-level players prefer to disable mouse acceleration to get more accurate and consistent input.

The following methods to disable mouse acceleration are:

  1. Enter "Mouse settings" from the start menu. Click Mouse settings.
  2. Click the Additional Mouse Options.
  3. Click the Pointer Options Tab to check the "Improve pointer accuracy" box.

9. Désactiver la barre de jeu de Windows

The Windows Game Bar is a useful tool for social networking and performance monitoring, but also consumes resources. To make the most of the gaming computer, you need to control above all. To make the most of the hardware, it is necessary to remove the performance that hinders the performance, and Windows Game Bar is one of them.

To disable Windows Gamebar, proceed to "Settings" & Gt; "Game" and disable the gamebar.

Améliorer la fréquence d’images et optimiser votre PC pour le jeu : 12 astuces

Whether you overclock the GPU or use advanced settings, there are several ways to increase the IPS on the gaming PC:

  1. Set a frame/ second counter in the game.
  2. Graphics card overclocking
  3. Upgrade the graphic card
  4. Upgrade to SSD
  5. Increase computers RAM
  6. Disable Superfetch and Prefetch services
  7. Execute a hard disk default or a trim command
  8. Change the settings of the NVIDIA control panel
  9. Change the settings of AMD/ATI Control Center
  10. Enable GPU task management with hardware acceleration
  11. Install DirectX 12 Ultimate
  12. Disable the nagle algorithm

Click on one of the links above to go directly to the appropriate section, or read on to learn more about each technique.

1. Installer un compteur d’images par seconde dans le jeu

I've spent a lot of time to adjust the settings to optimize the games on a computer. This time, we use benchmark tools such as frame counters and MSI Afterburner to check what they have actually achieved.

Rechercher votre fréquence d’images actuelle

Some games have a buil t-in frame counter. If you are using Steam, it will be enabled simply by pressing the Alt + Tab key and will be displayed via the overlay interface. However, it is recommended that you set up a gaming computer using the MSI AfterBurner installed on the RivaTuner. I will introduce the method in the video:

Quel est l’IPS idéal ?

For most users, 60IPS is the minimum required for smooth gaming. However, the ideal IPS also varies from monitor to monitor. Monitor refresh rates are measured in Hertz. A 60Hz monitor can display 60 frames per second, so it can display your game at 60 frames per second.

Even if you optimize your game for 90IPS, if your monitor only has a 60Hz refresh rate, you can only display the game at 60IPS.

When setting up your new gaming computer, choose a monitor or laptop with a high refresh rate of 120Hz or 144Hz. The higher the refresh rate and frame rate, the better your gaming experience.

2. Overclocker la carte graphique

Most of the time, it's the graphics chip that's the bottleneck that causes choppy or sluggish images, rather than insufficient RAM or an inefficient processor. To improve performance and increase frame rates, you can run your graphics card higher than its default frequency, i. e., overclock it.

Just five or ten years ago, overclocking was likely to damage hardware components. However, most modern systems will shut down before they can do any damage. Moreover, even a slight overclocking of the graphics processor (15% or less) can give you a limited performance boost, but it can make a big difference in games.

In my custom gaming PC, I pushed the Nvidia RTX GeForce 3090 card about 15% higher than its rated frequency:

Overclocking the Nvidia RTX GeForce 3090 Graphics Processor in a Custom Gaming PC

On a MacBook Pro with Windows 10 and a Radeon 460 Pro graphics processor, I increased the graphics processor frequency by 100 MHz and the RAM frequency by 300 MHz.

Overclocking speeds up the operation of the graphics processor, but it also puts a greater degree of stress on hardware components, not just the CPU and GPU, and increases the internal temperature of the computer. Overclocking both my laptop and desktop increased the temperature by 5°C. It's a significant increase, but it's within acceptable safety limits. Be sure to follow the safety measures for GPU overclocking when trying this technique. The same goes for overclocking the processor.

When I ran benchmark tests using 3DMark's TimeSpy, I was able to confirm that overclocking the system as described above resulted in a 10% increase in performance, from 17, 018 points before overclocking to 18, 591 points after overclocking. Overclocking the processor will increase the frame rate. So it's worth trying this method within safe parameters.

Want to overclock your laptop to increase frame rate? It gets a little complicated. Very few laptops support this feature, and overclocking a laptop can damage the device or its components. Make sure you have some experience before trying it.

3. Changer de carte graphique

After buying a 4K projector, I realized that my PC couldn't keep up with the resolution. I could run Witcher 3 fine at full HD, but both of my GeForce 970 graphics cards struggled at 4K (in SLI mode).

Only Nvidia's old Pascal graphics processor gave me the graphics power to boost frame rates above 60fps for 4K gaming. Benchmark data doesn't lie. From 2023 onwards, you need a high-end graphics processor like the GeForce RTX 4090 to get that kind of performance, and you need to optimize your PC for gaming at that level. Changing the configuration only helps you to a certain extent.

If 1440p or 1080p resolution is enough for you, you will notice a noticeable improvement in frame rates with a more economical graphics processor. And if you are building your own Windows 11 gaming PC, you can choose the graphics processor that is best for gaming.

According to tests conducted by Nvidia, switching from a GeForce RTX 3080 to a GeForce RTX 4080 resulted in a significant increase in frame rates. Source: Nvidia

4. Acheter un disque SSD

SSDs are much faster than mechanical hard drives, making them a good choice for optimizing your Windows 11 computer for gaming. Switching to an SSD drive will not improve your frame rates, but it will speed up your computer and significantly reduce loading times when playing games.

Choose an SSD drive with at least 500GB. This is not a starting point, but an absolute minimum. Most modern games require more than 50GB, and you should reserve about 30GB for Windows. And this is not counting your personal files. You really need more than 1TB.

I looked at the San Disk Extreme Pro 480GB drive ($395) with 540MB/s sequential read and 460MB/s sequential write. Compared to my Alienware gaming computer with a standard hard drive, the performance difference is impressive. A simple comparison:

Switching to an SSD dramatically reduces load times.

5. Augmenter la RAM de votre ordinateur

RAM (random access memory) is the main resource for every task that runs on your computer. The more RAM you have, the more tasks your computer can perform simultaneously. Increasing your PC's RAM will not only optimize it for gaming, but it will also make it a more powerful machine overall.

If you are adding more RAM, make sure the new RAM modules are compatible with the ones you already have. You cannot mix RAM types. If you are replacing all your RAM modules with new ones, make sure your motherboard supports which RAM types. Then buy more than one of the same RAM modules.

Adding more RAM can improve your IPS rate, but not as much as changing the processor or graphics processor. But if you can afford new RAM, that's the better option.

6. Désactiver les services SuperFetch (SysMain) et Prefetch

SuperFetch (called SysMain in Windows 10) and Prefetch are built-in features of Windows that aim to improve the startup time of apps and Windows. But for games, when these services are enabled, they increase loading times and background activity. Disabling these services is an easy way to optimize Windows 10 for gaming. Here is how to improve IPS in this way:

Caution: Read the instructions below carefully, as deleting or modifying the wrong values in the registry can cause serious problems for your PC.

  1. In the Windows search box, type "services" and select "Services" from the results that appear.
  2. Scroll down the list until you see SysMain and double-click this entry.
  3. Select "Disabled" from the Startup type option and click "Apply" and "OK". Close this window and the "Services" window. That's it.
  4. Now press Windows + R to open the Run dialog box, type "regedit" and press Enter. Press Yes to confirm.
  5. Paste the following path into the address bar and press Enter: ComputerHKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
  6. Double-click EnablePrefetcher, enter 0 (default value is 3) to disable the prefetcher feature, and click OK.

7. Défragmenter ou optimiser votre disque dur

When data is written to or deleted from the hard disk, the file becomes fragmented and physically scattered all over the hard disk. Disk fragmentation has a big impact on performance, especially in games, because the hard disk has to collect all the fragmented elements before it can process the entire file.

It's also a good idea to clean your SSD drive regularly with a good PC cleaning tool. The TRIM feature tells the SSD to erase all unused data blocks, improving read and write speeds through more efficient data management.

Games and associated files take up a lot of space, especially AAA games. Baldur's Gate 3 is just one example of a recent title that requires as much as 150GB of space. It's essential that this data is always accessible without Windows having to trawl through the disk.

Whether you're a conventional hard drive or SSD, clean up your drive now to improve your computer performance, and optimize Windows 11 for games.

  1. Open the Start menu and enter [Defrag]. Select "Defrag and drive optimization" for search results.
  2. Select a Windows drive and click the optimization. This allows you to optimize SSDs using the hard disk default or Trim function.

In SSD, the TRIM function should be enabled by default. However, there is a possibility that the TRIM function is incorrectly disabled. This means that SSD does not benefit from this regular optimization. If you need to enable Trim, follow the steps below:

  1. Open the command prompt: Click the start menu and enter CMD in the search bar. Select "Run as an administrator" at the command prompt, and when the prompt is displayed, click "Yes".
  2. Command Fsutil BEHAVIOR QUERY QUERY DISABLEDEDELETENOTIFY and press Enter.
  3. As described above, if the command returns the result = 0, everything is going well. If not, you need to enable it because the Trim command is not supported. Try to enter the command Fsutil Behavior Set DisableDeletenotify 0. If this does not work, you may need to update the firmware to enable Trim commands.

8. Modifier les paramètres du panneau de configuration Nvidia

To improve the performance of the NVIDIA graphics card, you can adjust the video and performance settings using the control panel (one on each driver) and optimize your PC for games. See the list of settings to improve the frame rate and change the settings to find the appropriate balance between performance and visual quality.

To access the NVIDIA Control Panel, righ t-click on the desktop, select NVIDIA CONTROL PANEL, and proceed to the left Manage 3D Settings category. The following is not well known, but it is an important setting:

  • Maximum Pre-Rendered Frames (maximum prrendering frame): This parameter controls the number of frames to be prepared before the processor transfers to a graphics card. If you increase this value, the game will be smooth, but you may have a waiting time for mouse and keyboards. To eliminate this waiting time, try this value to 1.
  • Threaded Optimision (Thread optimization): This option is always enabled to optimize multitasking with the latest mult i-core processor.
  • VSync: This option synchronizes the refresh rate of the screen. If you disable this option, you may feel that the game is smoother, but some of the screen may not be displayed correctly. Disable VSync only when the refresh rate of the screen is higher than the game.

9. Modifier les paramètres de l’AMD/ATI Control Center

The AMD/ATI Settings Center is an excellent way to improve performance and improve the visual quality of the game. To access, righ t-click the desktop and select Radeon Settings (Radeon Settings) and Game Settings (Game Settings).

This section allows you to adjust the various graphics settings of the installed games. However, it is recommended that our recommendations are generally applied to all games, so we recommend that you stick to the general settings.

The following is the most important setting:

  • Attractive filtering mode: When this setting is high, the distant texture becomes clearer. However, this setting increases the load on the graphic card. If the GPU performance is sufficient, enable this option and check if you notice the difference. Use this option only if the game does not support anisotropic filtering in the configuration menu.
  • Ant i-alias mode and method: Ant i-alias smoothes the jagged object in the game and has a significant effect on performance. If you are worried about flickering or jaggedziza, try the Override method and select the ant i-aliasing level between 2 and 8.
  • Morphological filtering (MLAA): AMD has its own ant i-aliasing, which may be more effective and faster than other options. Disable the ant i-alias of the game as well as the AMD standard ant i-alias, and use this option instead. If it works, leave it as it is.
  • Texture filter quality: According to AMD, this option changes the texture quality. However, there was no difference in the setting of "high" and "performance" even if I looked up close, but many of the test games improved by 1 to 5ps in the latter setting. Try it to raise the IPS a little more.
  • Surface format optimization: Old games reduce image quality, but slightly improves IPS. The current game was not affected, and the performance of the 2005 version of Age of Empires III did not feel the performance improvement. Disable this option.
  • Wait for vertical refresh: The vertical synchronization (or vsync) option synchronizes the image generated by the graphics card to the screen refresh rate. Disabling this option may give you the impression that the game will be smoother, but it can also cause other display problems. Disable VSync options only when the refresh rate of the screen is higher than the frame rate of the game.

10. Activer la gestion des tâches du processeur graphique accélérée par le matériel

GPU task management is the speed at which the processor sends a task to the GPU. You can get a variety of results by requesting a processor to send a small amount or a large batch, or by processing a part of the task scheduling itself.

This is especially useful if the processor is one of the weakest links in the system. However, if the main bottleneck is an ol d-fashioned graphic processor, it will not be able to maximize its performance even if an extra command from the processor is applied.

The following methods to enable hardware accelerator GPU task management:

  1. Open Windows settings and select the system.
  2. Click in the order of display and graphics settings, and if this option is available, enable Hardware Axeler Rated GPU Task Management. < SPAN> Texture filter quality: According to AMD, this option changes the texture quality. However, there was no difference in the setting of "high" and "performance" even if I looked up close, but many of the test games improved by 1 to 5ps in the latter setting. The following methods to enable hardware accelerator GPU task management:

2. Maintenir votre ordinateur portable au frais

Open Windows settings and select the system.

  • Click in the order of display and graphics settings, and if this option is available, enable Hardware Axeler Rated GPU Task Management.
  • DirectX 12 Ultimate is a software feature that enables ultra-realistic graphic effects such as ray tracing. To make sure you have DirectX 12 Ultimate installed on your computer, update Windows as you normally would and make sure you're running the latest version of Windows 10 or 11. You may need to update your graphics driver (or the graphics processor itself) to perform this installation.
  • Nagle's algorithm changes the speed at which data is sent over the network, delaying the sending of data until a certain amount can be sent at the same time. Disabling it will result in a constant flow of data, which can reduce latency when playing online games. But the difference is negligible. So don't expect a big difference.
  • A word before we start. Try disabling the Nagle algorithm only if you are an expert. Making a mistake in the Windows Registry Editor can seriously damage your PC.

3. Utiliser une application pour optimiser les performances

If you have the necessary expertise, here's how to disable the Nagle algorithm:
