Companies That Have Had Their Gambling Licence Suspended or Revoked in the UK

The UK Gambling Committee (UKGC) deals with the issuance of gambling licenses in the UK. When a company gets this license, it can provide gambling services to domestic players. This has been since the gambling method was enacted in 2005.

Currently, the regulatory agency is one of the most known organizations in the world. A license can be issued to companies based in both the United Kingdom and offshore. If you meet the required requirements, you can apply. However, the company must also comply with the licenses of the license.

If you neglect it, UKGC has the right to stop or cancel your license. Gambling companies violate the license of the license are never allowed. In this case, there are some cases in which fines and/ or official warnings have been imposed, and companies have lost their business licenses. That's what we are trying to see today. Here you can find out more about all companies that have paused or canceled the license.

2022

Compared to other years, 2022 has been very quiet in terms of licensing actions. The Gambling Commission has addressed three companies for a few different reasons. The most recent of these was LEBOM Limited, which occurred on November 3rd. The company had its license suspended for failing to integrate with GAMSTOP. A self-exclusion scheme is something players can use when they are trying to stop gambling. It helps them to stop gambling through various means. As of 2020, the European Commission has made it mandatory for all licensed operators to join GAMSTOP. Registered players should also not be able to receive customs from such sites.

LEBOM Limited, trading as lebom. app, had to immediately cease operations in the UK. Its license would only be reinstated if it fully integrated GAMSTOP. A review of its license by the European Commission also began on the same day. The suspension did not prevent customers from accessing their accounts or withdrawing funds. Five days later, the regulatory body lifted the license suspension. Prompt corrective action was taken by LEBOM.

Suspected Anti-Money Laundering and Social Responsibility Failures Lead to Two Licence Suspensions

At the beginning of 2022, Bet-at-Home and Goldchip Limited were also suspended from their licenses. This occurred in July and May 2022, respectively. In these two cases, the European Commission suspected non-compliance in two areas: anti-money laundering and social responsibility issues. As a result, investigations were launched into both brands. In both cases, the UKGC made it clear that during the suspension period, the focus should be on treating consumers in a fair manner. In this case, consumers can still access their accounts and withdraw funds.

Goldchip Limited has had its license suspension lifted and continues to operate in the UK. This is because the company sold its business. The financial technology (FinTech) company opted to acquire it. Dear Cashmere Holding Company acquired the brand in June 2022. As a result, it was able to push Goldchip back into the UK market. The company continues to declare its accounts to this day. But Bet-at-Home is a different story.

BET-AT-HOME chose to withdraw from the British market, rather than working on canceling the business suspension. Initially, the company chose to disable new customers registration and payment. Betting is no longer possible. However, the company later issued a statement and confirmed that he would not disagree with the suspension, and decided to abandon the license. Shortly before the suspension, the company reported a decrease of more than 50 %. As a result, the company lost about 14 million euros with the total income of betting and gaming in the first quarter of the year.

2021

In 2021, six licenses were suspended. In July, Martin Henry Bailey was suspended. The committee conducted a review based on Article 116 of the 2005 Gambling Act. This is due to concerns about activities that may have been contradicated against the law. These may not have followed the conditions of the license they own. Martin Henry Bailey is now a director of the Dave Bow Limited brand.

At the time of the suspension of activities, he ran a Baileies Racing store in Bazildon. Before that, it operated various stores throughout the UK. In November 2019, Bailey received a warning and 5, 000 pounds. It happened after he hired a 1 7-yea r-old son at the Ringfield Park Racecourse. Bailey also submitted false documents about his son's age.

Just five days ago, Playerft Limited was also suspended. The European Commission began reviewing the license in an early stage. However, after Playerft failed to integrate with Gamstop, he was suspended. Six days after the suspension, the company returned a UKGC license. As a result, Playerft withdrew from the British market.

Concerns Over Gambling Operator Activities Lead to Suspensions

One month ago, Lotary England Remited was one month before the license was interrupted. The company's review also caused concerns about its activities. These stated that the committee may have been contrary to the law or under conditions. The suspension took place on May 14, 2021. Lotary England Remited, based in Kent, holding a license for no n-remote external lottery managers.

As a result, lotteries have been managed and lottery services can be provided to philanthropy. Such conditions for licensing emphasize that lottery should not be performed for profit. You have to pay the fee every year. It was finally stopped. However, Lottery England Limited has been repeating various forced strikes since then. Submission of the account is currently overdue.

About two weeks before the suspension of the business, Nectane (Gibraltar) Limited was similar. This was caused by the currently ongoing Article 116 screening. UKGC suspected a violation of NEKTAN license conditions. As a result, continuing license activities may have been inappropriate. The suspension of the license has been enabled on April 27, 2021. Nektan was able to operate a remote bingo and casino site through its license. This includes Cloud Casino and Jackpot Mobile Casino. In 2020, the shares were suspended because nektan did not publish an annual report. As a result, the company was excluded from the London Stock Exchange.

A Licence Revocation and a Company Entering Administration

On March 12, 2021, the European Commission suspended Betindex Limited's business license. The company, which had been traded as a football index, was suspended after the examination under Article 116. UKGC was concerned about the licens e-related activities. The activity depended on the license, but did not follow specific conditions. For this reason, Betting and Gaming Council also stopped their membership. Leighday, a lawyer, investigated the claim as a "trader" agent using Football Index. They thought they had received misunderstanding information from the company.

At Football Index, users were able to buy fictitious stocks. Through this stock, I had a chance to get a dividend based on the actual players' performance every day. As a result, the top soccer players in the daily trend offered dividends to users. However, the change in March 2021 was issued and the dividend was reduced. This decreased from 33 penses to six per share. As a result, all open beds decreased, despite the start of beds based on high dividends. BETINDEX collapsed on March 11 and immediately stopped trading. At that time, Betindex stated that the customer fund was "in a separated account." Marcom Seahan QC conducted a review of the company by an independent expert. The screening was conducted for 13 weeks and published the results as a report.

Another license problem in 2021 occurred on March 3rd. At this time, the committee took general action against Caesters Entertainment. In April 2020, the company received a fine of 13 million pounds from UKGC. Survey on the PML holder was also in parallel with concerns. As a result, seven holders received a license warning and the two received a recommendation recommendation. Three PML holders voluntarily returned their licenses. One holder under the investigation was canceled by the unpaid license. In another case, another holder was also canceled. This was due to a quarrel with the customer at the place of work.

2020

Until now, the license was canceled / stopped the most in 2020. Eight companies were disposed of in the year of COVID-19. On November 18, Silver Bond Enterprises Limited was canceled. The company, which operated Park Lane Casino, experienced a change in corporate control. UKGC was not satisfied with the new license after the change. UKGC determined that if the company was in such a position at the time of application, it would not have issued a license to the administrator.

The statement of Helen Ven, the director of UKGC at the time, gave further insights. She said:

"We have canceled this license because of the funding source (SOF) (SOF) used to the acquisition and support of Licensei at the time of corporate control, or who will be paid to the future interests of Licensee. I'm not convinced ... "

She also commented on concerns about the sustainability of the new owner. On November 17, Silver Bond was appealing to the committee's decision. The cancellation of the license was suspended until the complaint was obtained. As a result, Parklane's casinos were able to continue operating until the appeal was obtained. Eventually, Silver Bond became a trustee on June 9, 2022. It was also announced on the same day that Metropolitan Mayfare had acquired a casino. The company currently operates both Parklane Club and Metropolitan Casino Mayfair. < SPAN> Another license problem in 2021 occurred on March 3rd. Failure to Enrol in GAMSTOP and AML + Social Responsibility Issues Lead to More Suspensions

Compliance Issues and Suspected Breach of a Licence Condition in Early 2020

She also commented on concerns about the sustainability of the new owner. On November 17, Silver Bond was appealing to the committee's decision. The company currently operates both Parklane Club and Metropolitan Casino Mayfair.

Genesis Global also had its license suspended in July 2020. The UKGC cited the company, which operates 14 websites, for allegedly violating its conditions. The suspension of the company's license also remained in effect while the Genesis investigation was ongoing. Genesis held a combined remote operating license for real event betting, virtual betting and casino. The UKGC highlighted compliance issues as the reason for the suspension. The suspension was lifted three months later after significant improvements in compliance. Genesis still received a £3. 8 million fine and a warning.

Joining GAMSTOP is a requirement for all operators in the UK. It's not hard to join at all. But it seems like two operators did on April 3, 2020. Dynamic and Sportito, trading as Prophet, didn't seem to get the memo. All online operators received notice that they had to join GAMSTOP by March 31. That notice came three months ago. The two companies did not comply, so the UKGC suspended their licenses. Shortly after the suspension, Sportito merged with GAMSTOP, which lifted the license suspension and allowed it to operate again. Dynamic's suspension lasted until April 8th.

2019

Triplebet was suspended in February 2020. The company operated a betting exchange and remote casino under the name "Matchbook". On February 17th, the company was sanctioned. This was due to social responsibility and money laundering deficiencies. An investigation was conducted and the company was found to have significant deficiencies. In some cases, people were able to bet large sums in just two days. Triplebet's license suspension also included a fine of £740, 000. This remained in place until Friday, August 7th. It was at this time that the company took steps to improve. Matchbook still operates with a full UK gambling license.

International Multimedia Entertainment (INME) was also suspended due to AML and social responsibility issues. On March 17th, a license review of the company was conducted. The European Commission suspended the license of the company, which traded as Lotteries. com, for the period of its investigation, on grounds relating to the operator's capabilities in two areas:

Ability to offer remote facilities for remote casinos

  • The suspension was effective immediately due to concerns over AML and social responsibility. The UKGC investigation began in January 2020. After almost a year of investigation, INME chose to surrender its UK license. The European Commission had the mindset to revoke the license in any case. It said that customers complained about repeated calls from INME's distributors. One customer in his 90s said he received multiple calls per week. Furthermore, 75% of the operator's customers were over 60 years old, and 20% were under 80 years old. The UKGC found that the company was too focused on the elderly. It is unlikely that INME considered the vulnerability of its customer base. There were also significant violations of various requirements that led to this outcome.
  • Stakers Limited is another company that was under investigation in 2020 for compliance issues. This led to numerous complaints and the suspension of its license. The UKGC found that Stakers Limited had allegedly breached the terms of its license, suggesting that the company was unfit to offer licensed activities in the UK. This came into effect on March 4th.
  • Stakers chose to appeal this decision to the Court of First Instance. However, Justice Alexander's written decision dismissed this. The Tribunal dismissed Stakers' first application for appeal, and at the time of the hearing Stakers' remote casino business no longer existed. As a result of the hearing, Stakers Limited surrendered its UK license.
  • Addison Global Limited, trading as Moplay, was the first company to have its license suspended in 2020. The provisional suspension was imposed during the company's review. Again, breaches of license conditions were decisive. This happened on February 20th. Shortly thereafter, on March 12th, Addison Global's license expired. This is because the company went into liquidation and is no longer able to offer gambling to consumers in the UK.
  • There were two licenses that UKGC worked on in 2019. On September 5, the screening for Everymatrix Software Limited began. This was conducted following compliance activities, including a setup of dialogue with customers. The committee has decided to stop part of the EVERYMATRIX license. As a result, Everymatrix has been able to manufacture, supply, install, and conform to gambling software. However, unable to provide remote facilities for betting at real events, except for poolbetting and betting at virtual events. Also, it was not possible to operate a remote casino. The regulatory agency later canceled the license suspension. At present, Everymatrix has three remote licenses: betting hosts, gambling software, and game hosts.
  • Other measures took place on June 18, 2019. This is the one that the European Commission has chosen to cancel the Maxent Limited operation license. There were concerns about the company's finances and information provided by UKGC. This happened because the company owner changed. The European Commission questioned the SOF used for transactions. The committee said he was almost satisfied with giving a license to the new owner of the operator. At that time, Maxent operated Slotty Vegas and Betat brands in the UK.
