2022

Compared to other years, 2022 has been very quiet in terms of licensing actions. The Gambling Commission has addressed three companies for a few different reasons. The most recent of these was LEBOM Limited, which occurred on November 3rd. The company had its license suspended for failing to integrate with GAMSTOP. LEBOM Limited, trading as lebom. app, had to immediately cease operations in the UK. Its license would only be reinstated if it fully integrated GAMSTOP. A review of its license by the European Commission also began on the same day. The suspension did not prevent customers from accessing their accounts or withdrawing funds. Five days later, the regulatory body lifted the license suspension. Prompt corrective action was taken by LEBOM.

Suspected Anti-Money Laundering and Social Responsibility Failures Lead to Two Licence Suspensions

At the beginning of 2022, Bet-at-Home and Goldchip Limited were also suspended from their licenses. This occurred in July and May 2022, respectively. In these two cases, the European Commission suspected non-compliance in two areas: anti-money laundering and social responsibility issues. As a result, investigations were launched into both brands. In both cases, the UKGC made it clear that during the suspension period, the focus should be on treating consumers in a fair manner. In this case, consumers can still access their accounts and withdraw funds.

Goldchip Limited has had its license suspension lifted and continues to operate in the UK. This is because the company sold its business. The company continues to declare its accounts to this day. But Bet-at-Home is a different story.

BET-AT-HOME chose to withdraw from the British market, rather than working on canceling the business suspension. Initially, the company chose to disable new customers registration and payment. Compliance Issues and Suspected Breach of a Licence Condition in Early 2020
