Greentube offers RET donation to BetBlocker
NOVOMATIC Interactive's Greentube has made a donation to BetBlocker as part of its annual Research, Entertainment and Treatment (RET) donation to support the development of BetBlocker's self-exclusion software.
Funded entirely by donations and officially approved by the UK Gambling Commission (UKGC), BetBlocker offers a free-to-use application that players can install on their devices to block access to a huge number of gambling sites. Greentube's donation will be invested in improvements to the company's iOS app, allowing users to restrict adult applications. It also supports upgrades to the security system that make it more difficult to circumvent the app's protections.
Greentube's RET donation is part of a voluntary funding model required by the UKGC, through which it promotes player protection measures and research into the treatment of gambling-related harm. The company also donates to Gamble Aware.
"This RET donation from Greentube strengthens our player protection initiatives and demonstrates our dedication to making responsible gaming the core of our business," said Trevor De Giorgio, Chief Legal Officer at Greentube. "We fully support BetBlocker's commitment to making their software free to both users and operators, and we will continue to work with them to ensure their application is as effective as possible in helping users control their access to online gambling.
BetBlocker's Duncan Garvey said: "Greentube is one of the first groups in the industry to support the BetBlocker project. Their donation will directly help support the thousands of people currently using our app to manage their gambling responsibly by limiting their access to online gambling services during periods when they feel vulnerable to excessive play." He continued: "The changes funded by Greentube will significantly improve our iOS app. Everyone on the BetBlocker team is very grateful that one of the unquestioned market leaders has taken an early interest in our project."

Applications invited to become safer gambling charity for 2025 editions of ICE, iGB Affiliate and iGB L!VE

Safe gambling organisations from around the world are invited to apply to become the official charity partner of Clarion Gaming for 2024/25.Successful charities will benefit from unprecedented levels of interest in the Clarion Gaming brand as ICE (20-22 January) and iGB Affiliate (20-23 January) make their historic moves to Barcelona's Fira Gran Via and iGB L! VE to London's ExCeL (1-4 July) in 2025.
Interested organizations, who will have unparalleled branding and networking opportunities at three of gambling's most dynamic live events, are invited to submit a summary of how the partnership will develop to address specific challenges, along with their mission and future vision.
Clarion Gaming will close applications on September 30, and the partnership will be valid from October through August 1, 2025.

As of January 1, 2020, operators must make annual financial contributions for gambling research, prevention and treatment, as required by SR Code 3. 1. 1 of the LCCP (Licence Conditions and Codes of Practice), to one or more of the organizations listed below.
List of organisations for operator contributions
The purpose of this list is to show operators how to comply with the LCCP requirement to make annual financial contributions for research, prevention and treatment.
The government will lead the creation of the statutory levy, including determining where the funds will go. The Gambling Commission will collect it and distribute it as directed by the government. Our role is to administer the levy.
Statutory levy
Once the levy is created, it is likely that the Commission's LCCP Research, Education and Treatment (RET) list will no longer be relevant or required. In the meantime, we expect operators to continue making the annual financial contributions required by the LCCP.
Make an annual financial contribution towards each of research, prevention and treatment. Annual financial contributions must be to organisations whose purpose is to provide research, prevention and treatment. Payments for paid services must not count towards LCCP RET contributions.
Operators must:
- Donate to one or more organisations in the list below.
- Ensure that you are not associated with the organisations you donate to.
- Accurately report information about who you pay and how much you donate in your quarterly regulatory returns to the Gambling Commission. This includes ensuring that there is no duplication of data across multiple licences.
- Collate information about LCCP RET donations and publish it at least annually.
Businesses may continue to make donations to organizations outside the approved list, but such donations will not be counted as LCCP RET donations.

The process for organisations who wish to be on the list for annual LCCP RET contributions
Published in the LCCP RET list does not guarantee RET financial contributions.
We manage this list to show how business operators comply with LCCP's financial contribution requirements. As a result, if a business operator donates to other areas that are active in other fields that are not related to the decrease in gambling harm in the UK, the amount is not considered to be based on the LCCP RET donation. It is guaranteed that it will not be announced. Businesses can continue to donate funds to no n-LCCP RET lists, but only the fact that such donations are not counted as LCCP RET donations.
An organization that wants to publish in a list of organizations that can make RET donations need to provide information to the gambling committee and evaluate the appropriateness of the organization. This includes activities to reduce gambling harm in the UK and the need for independent supervision and regulations on all organizations. In addition, the following is included:
In the case of a survey: To outsource not only the purpose of providing information to other tasks in the organization, but also a general profit.
- For treatment: connections to existing national gambling treatment services and/or existing NHS England, Scotland and Wales mental health or addiction services.
- Applications for the LCCP RET list are currently suspended. The review of the Gambling Act promises to introduce a statutory levy, the details of which are under consultation. The Gambling Commission will keep the situation under regular review and will provide further updates on this page.
There is no cost to working with the Commission to be included on this list, but organisations are encouraged to read the guidance on what is expected and the procedure for removal.
Organisations approved for RET contributions must send quarterly reports to the Commission setting out the contributions received from business licence holders. The reports consist of templated spreadsheets in MS Excel Open XML format, and blank copies are sent to approved organisations after approval. Completed spreadsheets must be submitted to retdata@gamblingcommission. gov. uk within 28 days of the end of each UK financial quarter.
