A list of the college and pro competitions we’ve lost
Joel Ryan December 9, 2020 9:00 AM 12020 has never seen the kind of benching that the coronavirus pandemic has brought to the sports world. College football, NFL preseason traditions, the NBA, MLB, NCAA Championship Tournaments, and even the Little League World Series were affected.
At least one professional league was insolvent. Entire seasons were scrapped. And coronavirus-related schedule changes have led to some long-awaited games being irretrievably lost. The latter was especially true in college football, where even powerhouses like Ohio State, Alabama, Notre Dame, and USC were forced to succumb to the realities of the pandemic.
Here are the major games, events, and seasons that have been canceled, postponed, or postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This list is current at the time of publication and includes timelines for when seasons and events will resume, if applicable.

After the combine in Indianapolis and business as usual, the NFL, like much of the rest of the country, went into remote mode.
MARCH 2020
With team facilities closed, free agency began, minus in-person visits and medicals. It was no different for Tom Brady, who left New England and brought his six Super Bowl rings back to Tampa Bay.
The owners of each team opted to expand the playoffs by two teams to 14 teams and increase the televised postseason.
The draft, the league's biggest offseason showcase, had a huge success in Nashville the previous spring. It was scheduled to be held in Las Vegas, but COVID-19 forced the NFL to reschedule the Sin City event in 2022 and conduct a completely virtual draft.
APRIL 2020
Commissioner Roger Goodell oversaw the event from his hideaway in his suburban New York home. Goodell, who went unpaid for 20 years as NFL personnel were cut, even received praise for his performance. That's rare.

The NFL and players' union did not have a pro day for professional baseball players. They also agreed that offseason workout programs would be conducted virtually until each team was allowed to open their facilities.
All five international games were moved back to home team stadiums as coronavirus cases surged, and the league announced a full regular season schedule. While working through that schedule, the NFL developed a ticket refund plan for canceled games or games without fans (most games will be played in empty stadiums, some will be rescheduled to alternative dates, but no cancellations will occur).
MAY 2020
All OTAs in May were virtual. A select number of teams were cautiously allowed to reopen training facilities under very strict health protocols, but many were prohibited by government regulations.
The Hall of Fame Game in Canton, Ohio, which traditionally kicks off the preseason, was canceled.
JUNE/JULY 2020
JC, the chairman of NFLPA, JC Trettar, wrote to the players that they must fight for "necessary COVID-19 protection" as a union that supports the suspension of the pre-season. Ta. Initially, the league reduces the exhibition game in half and then stops all.
All training camps were held in team complex, and the players were tested for Coronavirus every day. The owner was paid to the players who decided to turn off the season. Dozens of people skip the 2020 campaigns, skipping five players.
NFL extended the chanovirus test for players and staff every day, despite the tw o-week positive rate of less than 1 % since the start of the camp.
AUGUST 2020
Dolphins is the first franchise that announced plans to open the gate to fans during the season.
The season was kicked off in front of about 17, 000 spectators in Kansas City, and Chiefs broke Houston.
SEPTEMBER 2020
The new stadium in Los Angeles and Las Vegas has opened except for fans.
Daily player tests other than the match day continued during the season. Denver's Big Fangio, Seattle's coach Pete Carol, Las Vegas coach John Gruden, Sean Paiton of New Orleans, and Kyle Shanahan of San Francisco, 10 inappropriate masks on the side line. He was fined $ 250, 000.
In late September, the league's first COVID-19 occurred in Titans, and the game with Stillers was changed to the second half of the schedule.
For several weeks, nine teams were hit by Coronavirus's collective infection, and the schedule was replaced. The protocol update includes a PCR test on the day of the match, the use of a mask on the wal k-through, the permission of a playcoller wearing a face shield instead of a side line or a gate. NFL recommended wearing protective masks to sid e-line players who have not participated in the game and players on the field.
