Most Anticipated Young Adult SFF/H for September & October 2024

I don't know who is making decisions in Publishing Land, but in September and October, everyone seems to have decided to release as many young adult science fiction, fantasy, and horror books as possible. It took a long time to narrow down this list to what I expected most, but it still became 35. This season, dystopia and science fiction are performing well, and horror and vampires are selling explosively. You can choose from many works this fall.

Thrills & Chills

The Unfinished, Mohawk, Mohawk, required scholarships to leave the small town of Krook Falls. On the way, she meets a black water pond and learns that the pond is calling himself. Eventually, people in the town begin to disappear. Avrey felt that he was separated from indigenous traditions for most of his life. However, his best friend and his lover's key will be missing, and Avrey has to regain his culture and connection with his ancestors to protect his beloved people. (Heart drum, September 10, 2024)

Ramar Jile's Ruin Road Cade is one of the only black students who attends the elite school Neeson Preparation Academy in an area with many white people in Virginia. My future dream is drafted to NFL, but every time a high school game is canceled by bomb terrorism, the dream is far away. He collided with racist whites and police officers, and arrived at a stranger, where he desperately wish. Everybody in the town begins to behave fearlessly. At first it was fun and bold, but quickly became violent. Cade has to release something evil and restore it. Such as it is. (Skirtic Publishing; September 17, 2024)

Such Lovely Skin by Tatiana Schlote-Bonne Horror is a game. Viv is discouraged by his role in the accident that kills his sister and focuses on Twitch distribution. While trying a new horror game, she confesses the secret to the NPC, opened the door to the devil's Doppelganger without knowing it, and caused her life to be confused. The chronic liar viv seems to be unable to convince anyone that the terrible thing is happening to himself, except for the once bullying geek boy Ash. Her lie bothered her. We are Hunted by TOMI OYEMAKINDE Never go to a strange and mysterious technology. Femi, who accompanies his father's business trip to Darulenia, a resort island owned by a worl d-famous genius, realizes the lesson. "The Dark Becoms Her" by Judy I. Lin Ruby has a strict and obedient life as a Taiwanese Canadian eldest daughter. She can always see a strange figure moving behind the scenes, but has left it away. But until now. After his sister Tina is possessed by one of the spirits, Ruby will be involved in the ancient struggle. Evil temples and two guardians who oppose it were risking not only Tina and Ruby but also the entire China Town in Vancouver. (Rick Rio Dan Presents, released on October 1, 2024)

Killer House Party, Lily Anderson, I love a horror novel, "Everyone is trapped in the ruined murderous house." Arden has been working hard to enroll in the medical school to become a graduate, but instead, all her parents have spent all her tuition into the aging Dain Heart House. So, with his friend Remi and Maddy Mei, she decided to open a graduation party to decorate the end of a graduation party in this mansion and use the money earned as an entrance fee for the first year of the university in Arden. Of course, they don't expect this mansion to actually eat people. (Published by Henry Holt & Company, released on October 1, 2024)

Queer Horror

Erin is a transformer girl, Max is a trance boy, but both of them are believed to protect the town from floods, the hunting of local people who are sacrificed by Brit Beast. 。 Escape from Lebanon Junctions and their blood hungry monsters was the most difficult thing for them. THEY THOUGHT THEY BURIED US BY NONIEQA RAMOS Yuza is the only colored student in Our Lady of Perpetual Mercy, can't keep up with classes, and wants to pay enough money to pay tuition. Is enough to crack everyone. A strange thing happens at school, and the teachers are strange. They love horror movies, but living in them is a completely different problem. Clara tries to keep a distance from Boaz, an employee who has a strong admiration for her. When Anato is possessed by Dibuk, her sister has to rely on Boaz's talent to see the dead. The FORBIDDEN BOOK BY SACHA LAMB Russian 1 7-yea r-old Jewish child Sorel was about to be married. Instead, she escapes for independence and chance. Sorel, disguised as a man named Isser Jacobs, finds something more than expected. Isser was an ominous connection with Sorel's father's father's dark business, but as he pretended to be, she discovered himself. (Levine Querid, released on October 1, 2024)

Gentless of Wild Things (written by Sar a-Underwood) seems to be a twin season in the YA fantasy. Ailene and twin Phoebe live on Zakintos Island, which is dominated by Leandros, a descendant of Eros. Leandros uses his magical medicine "Desire" to push his intentions to the women on the island, but aims for Foeby when a teenage wife dies. Irene agrees in a series of tests to save her sister. With the help of Ramia, a daughter with Leandros, the two girls try to reveal the identity of Leandros. (Harper Collins; October 1, 2024)

Shah Lee's "The Legend of the White Snake" was bitten by a white snake. However, the white snake swallows the pearl, and the mother is forced to make a long and spicy weakness. A few years later, Sien heads to the town of Nagaraku under the prophecy that he will reunite with the white snake. So he meets a boy Zen, a handsome hut with a dark secret, and falls in love. Pearl gave him the ability to transform him into a human form. Quia Fantasy, where love and obligations collide. Inspired by the ancient Chinese folk tales of the same name. Baviruo Mac is angry and kills the White who killed her slave. She fled to the swamp with her brothers and sisters to protect her three brothers and sisters, where she encountered a supernatural phenomenon. Today, Atlas returns to the family's land for annual bone day dishes. Atlas chases her grandmother because her grandmother disappeared in the swamp. (Feiwel & Amp; Friends; October 15, 2024)

Vile Season by David Ferraro After Count Lucian is nearly killed by a vampire hunter, he manages to escape. With his powers greatly diminished, he seeks refuge with Vrykolakas, the vampire god. To prove his worth, Vrykolakas takes him by the hand of Duke Ambrose Harclay on a journey to expose the vampire hunters' identities, but it is the Duke's brother, Maxwell, who steals his heart. Described as queer vampire + Bridgarton, this work seems to have been written especially for me. (Page Street YA; October 22, 2024)

The Future Sucks

The Art Thieves by Andrea L. Rogers In 2052, a new plague is spreading across the world. The climate crisis is rapidly worsening, creating dangerous and large-scale environmental disasters. Nada and her twin, Nayf, are the grandchildren of the deposed ruler, and are recruited by Ahrar to kidnap Lysa and disrupt the wedding. Dystopian YA is back! (Kokila, October 8, 2024)

Love Is in the Air

Kazik, the grandson of a local witch, fails to purify her and instead turns into a frog. Gisera trades with Kaziku. If he helps kissing, he will keep his declining magic secret. Unfortunately, Kazik and Gisera want to kiss Alexei. Before you get angry at YA fantasy, let's leave the word polyamory. (Teen Tonago; September 24, 2024)

The Door in Lake Mallion by S. M. BEIKO (The Brindlewatch Quintet #2) Dance tongue has a big dream, but it doesn't fit in reality. Living in Nokkham on the lake shore is even more difficult if youthful macular degeneration is sufficient, but if you are out of a strange companion and thrown into a classmate in Lake Marion. The dance tongue, who thought he would be drowning, arrived at the Geodom of Jet gate, a reptile underwater civilization. They immediately like him, especially the Prince Ven. Heir by Sabaa Tahir (Heir #1) Sabaa Tahir's new books are always exciting. Set 20 years in the future with a mostly new cast (with the occasional appearance of old characters), Heir follows three teenagers bouncing between different timelines: Aiz seeks revenge on those who destroyed her orphanage; Quill is about to be crowned the new Emperor of the Martial Empire, but doesn't want to take the blame; and Sasha is a nobody after being cast out of her community for a horrible crime. In this Pakistani adaptation of Alexandre Dumas's The Count of Monte Cristo, Dania is jailed for a year for a crime she didn't commit. Fellow inmate Noor betrays her to the magical Zohrat seeds that Emperor Vahid used to conquer Dania's homeland. Armed with djinn magic and a mountain of gold, Dania and Noor return to the city of Basral to take on not only the boy who betrayed them, but the entire imperial machine. Coincidentally, this is the second of this fall's The Count of Monte Cristo remixes. In adult sci-fi, Suzan Palumbo has crafted a masterful novel with an anti-colonial bent. Both are worth a read. Celestial Monsters by Aiden Thomas (The Sunbearer Trials #2) Set immediately after The Sunbearer Trials, this queer fantasy duology is told from two perspectives. Refusing to participate in the tradition of sacrificing demigods, Theo strives to reverse the apocalypse, while Xio frees the Obsidian Gods and atones for their role in causing the apocalypse. Theo, his best friend Niya, and his lover Aurelio descend on Los Restos to rescue the other demigods in a final effort to bring the sun back to Reino del Sol. (Faywell & Friends; September 3, 2024)
