New Jersey Sports Betting Best NJ Sportsbook Offers 2024
New Jersey Sports Betting — Where To Play, Online Sportsbooks, And FAQ
In May 2018, New Jersey won a decade-long battle against the NCAA and major professional sports leagues at the U. S. Supreme Court, paving the way for legal sports betting.
As a leader in this fight, it was only fitting that New Jersey would be one of the first states to offer sports betting on a widespread basis. On June 11, 2018, just four weeks after the federal sports betting ban (PASPA) collapsed, New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy signed a bill legalizing sports betting and giving regulatory powers to the Department of Gaming Enforcement (DGE).
Today, New Jersey hosts one of the largest sports betting markets in the country, including a variety of land-based sportsbooks, as well as many online sites and betting apps. With so many bookies available, it can be difficult to know where to play. That's why Sports Handle has put together a comprehensive guide to the industry, including our exclusive power rankings.

In New Jersey, there is no shortage of land-based casinos, horse racing tracks, and online sportsbooks that allow straight, parlay, and teaser bets. Below is a comprehensive table of all the sportsbooks that New Jersey bettors can bet on right now.

ESPN BET
Betrivers is a nationwide Igaming brand of Rush Street Interactive. In 2018, he first launched in New Jersey under the name of Play Sugarhouse, and was finally reblanded to Betrivers in August 2022.
BetRivers

When you sign up for a new account with a Borgata sportsbook promo code, make your first real money deposit of at least $20, and place your first bet of $20 or more on any market offered on the site, the site's bonus will be officially applied. You will activate a total of $100 in bonus bets. These bonus bets will expire after 7 days and only pay out profits, but you only need to put in $20 of funds to get $100 worth of bonus bets, so this is a great deal.
Borgata
Tired of betting against the oddsmakers? Then Prophet Exchange might be the place for you! Prophet Exchange is a peer-to-peer betting platform that is different from your average sportsbook, allowing players to set their own lines and odds or buy other players' odds. Think of it as a betting exchange that facilitates betting with other bettors, rather than going through an oddsmaker.
Prophet Exchange
Typically, bookmakers at traditional sportsbooks set the betting odds for a particular game. The simplest example is a point spread.
When you bet on a spread, you are usually betting at odds o f-110, not +100. If you want to make $100 on a bet on a game, that bet will cost you $110. Sportsbooks make their money through commission on each side of that particular market. With Prophet Exchange, you avoid the high commissions found at other sportsbooks.
Prophet Exchange is currently the only peer-to-peer sportsbook in the United States that offers betting.
As one of the pioneers of legal sports betting across the nation, New Jersey is largely responsible for the eventual overturning of PASPA (Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act) in 1992. New Jersey's early commitment to sports betting not only paved the way for other states across the nation, but has become one of the most successful sports betting markets in the United States to date. The state's prime position resulted in the first-ever monthly handle of $1 billion in legal sports betting, which came in September 2021 during the opening day of the football season.
Just two months later, in November 2021, New Jersey became the first state to see sportsbook operator revenues exceed $100 million in a single month, recording $114, 788, 726.
New Jersey sports betting revenue
New Jersey came close to hitting that figure in September 2023 ($111, 145, 385) and December 2023 ($109, 426, 484). However, New Jersey blew away this figure, setting a new record in January 2024 with revenue of $170, 758, 334.
Since topping the $1 billion mark for the first time in September 2021, total volume has set new monthly highs in October ($1, 303, 198, 342) and January 2022 ($1, 348, 860, 083). This figure was surpassed in November 2023 ($1, 623, 072, 184) and a few months later in January 2024 ($1, 719, 170, 088).
Currently, New Jersey's online sports betting industry is dominated by two license holders. One is a horse racing track with a location advantage and ties to a daily fantasy sports giant, the other is a pocket casino in Atlantic City with an even bigger DFS giant.
Below, we rank the state's licensees based on several criteria, including revenue, overall market trajectory, quality of sports betting product, and number of online skins currently available.
New Jersey sportsbook operator power rankings
Retail Sportsbook: FanDuel Sportsbook at the Meadowlands
Retail launch date: July 14, 2018
#1 – The Meadowlands Racetrack
- Online betting: Yes
- Online sportsbook: FanDuel Sportsbook, Fantics Sportsbook
- Located in the heart of East Rutherford, Meadowlands Racetrack was one of the first tracks to open a sportsbook outside of Nevada, opening its first bets just two months after the collapse of PASPA. Located just a stone's throw from New York City and smack in the middle of New Jersey's largest population center, Meadowlands Racetrack's book has thrived, bringing in more revenue than any other retail book in the state.
- Of course, it doesn't hurt that the sportsbook is operated by one of the largest gambling operators in the world, Paddy Power Betfair (now Flutter Entertainment), which merged with FanDuel in 2018 to form FanDuel Group. FanDuel, one of the most popular daily fantasy sports brands in the world, serves as the forward-facing brand for both the Meadowlands retail book and its leading online and mobile betting sites.
Complementing Meadowlands is a second online skin, Fanatics, which has taken the New Jersey online sports betting scene by storm with slick promotions and a functional sports betting app.
Strong branding and convenient locations aren't the only reasons Meadowlands has been so successful: all of its products boast solid lines, sleek packaging, and are user-friendly.
Retail Sportsbook: DraftKings Sportsbook at Resorts
On sale: November 20, 2018
#2 – Resorts Casino Hotel
- Online Betting: Yes
- Online Sportsbook: DraftKings Sportsbook
- Located in the heart of East Rutherford, Meadowlands Racetrack was one of the first tracks to open a sportsbook outside of Nevada, opening its first bets just two months after the collapse of PASPA. Located just a stone's throw from New York City and smack in the middle of New Jersey's largest population center, Meadowlands Racetrack's book has thrived, bringing in more revenue than any other retail book in the state.
- Since its initial launch, DraftKings has remained the industry revenue leader and now generates healthy NJ online casino revenues as well (casino games were integrated in December 2018).
FOX Bet followed in September 2018 as the second skin of the Resorts Digital license, initially under the name BetStars. It gained the new FOX Bet name after its parent company, Stars Group, formed a game-changing partnership with FOX Sports the following year.
FOX Bet was phased out from July 31 to August 31, 2023.
Resorts Casino himself added to the existing Igaming site to a sportsbook, and the third brand was the last online skin. However, it did not last long, and in February 2022, a new unknown brand agreed to take over the last skin. The new brand has not been announced yet, but resorts have already withdrawn digital sportsbooks from the app and website.
The only lan d-based book based on the Resorts license is the DRAFTKINGS SPORTSBOOK of Resorts AC, which started in December 2018. Although it is impressive in appearance, this small book is not a major source of revenue, probably because it is one of the small casinos of Atlantic City (but still better than a part).
Retail Sports Book: Caesers Sports Book At Montmas Park
Retail date: June 14, 2018
#3 – Monmouth Park
- Online Betting: Yes
- Online Sports Book: CAESARS SPORTSBOOK, BETRIVERS
- Located in the heart of East Rutherford, Meadowlands Racetrack was one of the first tracks to open a sportsbook outside of Nevada, opening its first bets just two months after the collapse of PASPA. Located just a stone's throw from New York City and smack in the middle of New Jersey's largest population center, Meadowlands Racetrack's book has thrived, bringing in more revenue than any other retail book in the state.
- The launch on June 14, 2018 created a lot of publicity, but it was not a hal f-hearted sports betting initiative, so it was legitimate. On the contrary, the retailbook, which was previously known as William Hill, has been well kneaded (although it is ol d-fashioned) and proved to be a solid source of revenue for the state.
In online, sports books approved by Montmas Park are not as good as resorts and Medow Lands, but are well functioning. In addition to the Caesters Sports Book App, which was rebranded in August 2021 in the William Hill NJ app, Montmas Park has another online skin.
Montmas Park acquired Bet Rivers after the Irush Interactive category abandoned a sports betting ti e-up with Golden Nuggets. This is probably because Golden Nugget was forbidden to provide the NBA line. This has been changed, but Betrivers and Rush Street are sticking to Monmouth Park. Betrivers has completely integrated its sportsbooks into a very popular innovative online casino, making the app a on e-stop shop for all kinds of betters.
Montmas Park used to run the third online skin by Canada's bookmaker The Score Bet. Pen National Gaming has officially closed the Sports Betting Business in the United States, as the parent company has been running the THESCORE BET in Canada and decides to concentrate on the ESPN BET brand in the United States.
Retail Sports Book: Gallery Bar, Book & Games
Retail date: June 28, 2018 (provisional), September 1, 2018 (permanent), July 1, 2022 (The Gallery Bar, Book & Amp; Games)
#4 – Ocean Resort Casino
- Online Betting: Yes
- The Oceans Atlantic City has been running a Caesters brand retail sportsbook in the middle of the worl d-class casino resort, but has recently renovated a larg e-scale sportsbook. The $ 5 million remodeled was a lounge with a fulfilling sports book, a 10 0-foot center bar, a slot machine and a table game. On July 1, 2022, a brand new brick book was officially opened. Oceans has selected not to continue cooperating with Caesers, but to leave all odds creation operations to USBookmaking, a leading brand that runs more than 100 retail sportsbooks in Nevada.
Retail date: July 30, 2018, August 1, 2018 (CAESARS SPORTSBOOK AT HARRAH'S RESORT), March 8, 2019. Cana AC)
#5 – Caesars Interactive Entertainment
- Online Betting: Yes
- Online Sports Book (CAESARS): Profetting Exchange
- Located in the heart of East Rutherford, Meadowlands Racetrack was one of the first tracks to open a sportsbook outside of Nevada, opening its first bets just two months after the collapse of PASPA. Located just a stone's throw from New York City and smack in the middle of New Jersey's largest population center, Meadowlands Racetrack's book has thrived, bringing in more revenue than any other retail book in the state.
- Caesers Entertainment uses three different sports betting licenses: Tropicana AC, Harraz AC, and Caesthers AC at the headquarters. The company uses its own Caesters brand for sportsbooks in three facilities.
- Looking at online, the 888Sport has recently stopped all services, and Caesers Entertainment is currently dealing with two sportsbook skins in the primary license. The 888 was previously open in New Jersey under a Caesters license. Harrah's license has not yet been used for sports betting, while TROPICANA has tried to tie up with the Mojo Markets Sportsbetting Exchange supported by the first online partner Alex Rodriguez. The alliance was shor t-lived, and Mojo lost its charm in late 2023 and was closed.
Strangely, Caesters' unique online sports book platforms are not operated under the license of the parent company-As a result of the acquisition of William Hill since the state debuted for the first time in sports gambling in 2018. Accepted action under the license of Montmas Park.
The first online sportsbook that was operated by NJ in the main license of Caesters is nothing but Wynnbet SportsBook. In July 2020, Caesters Interactive Entertainment added the brand to the online sports betting repertoire. Wynnbet offers glittering mobile apps and websites, a luxurious casino that represents Las Vegas, The Wynnbet SportsBook so as not to be ashamed of the brand's reputation. The Wynnbet Sports Book has established a solid position in the New Jersey market, not only in New Jersey, but also in other states in the United States. It is noteworthy that Wynnbet has announced that it will suspend business in New Jersey in August 2023.
Caesers began hosting the second online brand under the primary license after the new entry Procet Exchange debuted on NJ on August 29, 2022. PROPHET wants to destroy the conventional sports betting by providing a p i-t o-pier replacement system. If you want to bet, you can provide it to the exchange. For example, betting Eagles with Giants +6. If you use a profile exchange, you can find someone to bet with+100 odds instead o f-110 odds. Just put the bed and the profile exchange will be performed. The bed is done between you and other individuals, not a sportsbook. Profets will be broker. This is similar to the structure of the stock market, but it is a new idea in Sports Betting.
Retail Sports Book: Hard Rock Sports Book
Retail date: January 29, 2019 (provisional), April 1, 2019 (permanent)
#6 – Hard Rock Hotel & Casino
- Online Betting: Yes
- Online Sports Book: Hard Rock SportsBook, Bet365, Unibet
- Located in the heart of East Rutherford, Meadowlands Racetrack was one of the first tracks to open a sportsbook outside of Nevada, opening its first bets just two months after the collapse of PASPA. Located just a stone's throw from New York City and smack in the middle of New Jersey's largest population center, Meadowlands Racetrack's book has thrived, bringing in more revenue than any other retail book in the state.
- The permanent book will be operated on April 1, 2019, and is currently a 3, 800 squar e-foot dedicated space, a seat with 50 people, 60 TVs, and a ful l-service bar with a video poker, a casino bar. It is provided. The number of seats is limited, and the television is on the wall (not video wall), so it is not an ideal setup, but it is a significant step up from a temporary sports book.
Hard rock has partnered with two major Europeans, UNIBET and BET365, for online sports book skins. Univet is one of the original online sportsbooks, which started in 1999, and boasts more than 11 million customers in more than 100 countries. They brought their experience to the garden state through an online book equipped with Kambi, which provides great promotion, solid lines, and eas y-t o-use interfaces. Currently, BET365 is a fair (and most good) alternative service because UNIBET has ended services in North America.
Bet365 is not yet famous in the United States, but is one of the world's largest online sportsbooks. BET365 is a pioneer in the game and first provided many features we know today, such as i n-game betting and live streaming. Bet365's betting market and optional libraries are enormous. The Bet365, which is easy to use and clean, has a wide range of BET365, from beginners of sports betters to experienced butter.
Sports Book: The SportsBook
Retail date: August 15, 2018 (provisional), September 1, 2018 (permanent)
#7 – Golden Nugget Hotel Casino & Marina
- Online Betting: Yes
- Online Sports Book: GOLDEN NUGGET, BETWAY
- Located in the heart of East Rutherford, Meadowlands Racetrack was one of the first tracks to open a sportsbook outside of Nevada, opening its first bets just two months after the collapse of PASPA. Located just a stone's throw from New York City and smack in the middle of New Jersey's largest population center, Meadowlands Racetrack's book has thrived, bringing in more revenue than any other retail book in the state.
- Initially, Golden Nuggets could not accept NBA's games because of the NJ's law that sports franchise has a major interest in sports, because of the NJ's law that cannot accept bets on the sports. The Golden Nugget owner, Tillman Feltitta, is also the owner of Houston Rockets, but the rules have changed, and Golden Nuggets can now accept betting on the NBA.
Golden Nugget's online casino is still a top performance. Betway, the second online skin of Golden Nugget, started in New Jersey in August 2021. However, partnerships with Chicago Bulls, Golden State Warriors, and Los Angeles Clippers indicate that Betway is slow, but certainly has a big move.
Retail Sports Book: MGM SportsBook & Amp; Bar (former Moneyline Sports Bar and Sportsbook)
Retail date: June 14, 2018 (provisional) June 29, 2019 (permanent)
#8 – Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa
- Online Betting: Yes
- Online Sports Book: BORGATA SportsBook, BetMGM
- Located in the heart of East Rutherford, Meadowlands Racetrack was one of the first tracks to open a sportsbook outside of Nevada, opening its first bets just two months after the collapse of PASPA. Located just a stone's throw from New York City and smack in the middle of New Jersey's largest population center, Meadowlands Racetrack's book has thrived, bringing in more revenue than any other retail book in the state.
- BORGATA's online sportsbook has been adding a betting option for several years, especially in an i n-game library since the first launch. The app is sometimes difficult to navigate, and the promo may be a bit confusing, but they offer a lot of promo.
BETMGM's online sportbook also made a larg e-scale upgrade in mi d-2019. With this upgrade, it has been reborn as a sports book in the New Jersey Sports Betting industry in the New Jersey Sports Book. BETMGM is really outstanding with other sports books that are difficult to get close to players. Against the backdrop of great financial strength, BETMGM is now a true factor in New Jersey.
Both the Borgata and MGM sportsbook apps mirror each other and work exactly the same in every way except for appearance. Where MGM appears in gold, Borgata appears in light blue. Everything else is identical. And despite being under the same parent company, players are allowed to create accounts at both Borgata and MGM and get double the rewards!
Retail Sportsbook: Parx Sportsbook
Retail Launch Date: September 25, 2020
#9 – Freehold Raceway
- Online Betting: Yes
- Online Sportsbook: ESPN BET, betPARX
- Located in the heart of East Rutherford, Meadowlands Racetrack was one of the first tracks to open a sportsbook outside of Nevada, opening its first bets just two months after the collapse of PASPA. Located just a stone's throw from New York City and smack in the middle of New Jersey's largest population center, Meadowlands Racetrack's book has thrived, bringing in more revenue than any other retail book in the state.
- Parx Sportsbook finally went live on September 25, 2020, occupying a small section on the second floor of the main racetrack building, pictured above. Upon entering the facility, players are greeted by a Kambi self-serve kiosk before passing one of the many ticket booths along the wall. There are plenty of tables and chairs, as well as a matching number of TVs scattered around the room. Overall, it's not the biggest or brightest brick-and-mortar store around, but it gets the job done.
With Penn National Gaming owning a 50% stake in Freehold Racecourse, it was expected that ESPN BET would be one of the track's mobile betting skins. The ESPN BET Sportsbook mobile app won't launch in New Jersey until November 2023, but it has quickly risen to the top as one of the most popular betting apps in NJ.
PlayUp Sportsbook, a little-known Colorado-based brand, signed with Freehold Racecourse on January 14, 2021, to become the track's second online skin, making New Jersey its second state of operation. After a lack of success in the U. S. market, PlayUp ceased operations in New Jersey in 2023.
On March 16, 2022, BETPARX launched a newly renovated sportsbook and casino app and website in New Jersey under the license of a free hold racetrack. The third and last skin attached to the racetrack is the latest mobile arm developed by Greenwood Gaming & Amp; Entertainment, the parent company of PARX CASINO. This app is very unique in terms of technology, providing a smooth interface with fast loading time and aesthetics beautiful graphics. BETPARX, supported by PARX and FREEHOLD RACEWAY, have the potential to become NJ's major players.
Retail Sports Book: BALLY'S HOTEL & AMP; CASINO BALLY BET SPORTSBOOK
Retail date: March 15, 2021
#10 – Bally’s Atlantic City
- Online Betting: Yes
- Online Sports Book: SportTrade

Located just a stone's throw from New York City and smack in the middle of New Jersey's largest population center, Meadowlands Racetrack's book has thrived, bringing in more revenue than any other retail book in the state.
- Within a year later, the brand has officially approved its own online gaming license by the NJ Casino Management Committee. Esports Entertainment Group's popular ESPORTS Betting Platform Vie. gg was the first candidate to officially launch in April 2022 under the Bally's NJ Ming License. Unfortunately, Vie. gg stopped operating at NJ in late 2022.
By the summer of 2022, a new BALLY'S AC 750 guest rooms will be released as part of a renovated project of over 100 million dollars. In addition to the upgraded guest rooms, the Bally's AC also debuted with more than 250 new slot machines, the most advanced hig h-limit gaming room, and the gorgeous beer garde n-style venue named The Yard. THE YARD is a fun new area full of actions where you can enjoy live entertainment, pu b-style menus, local beer makers, Bully boast beer, craft cocktails, etc.!
Shortly after summer, BALLY'S AC got the second online skin. SportTrade is the first regulation sports trading platform in the United States, launched in New Jersey on September 15, 2022, with market access acquired from BALLY'S. Basically, SportTrade, a hybrid of Draftkings and Robinhood, aims to improve sports betting experience by adding elements in the stock market. You can't tell if this will be established without time passing.
There are some differences in the start depending on each site, but overall it is a similar process and it should only take a few minutes. The first step in the process is to click the link of the NJ online sportsbook on this page. Then the landing page of the online sportsbook is displayed. Some sites have a "registration" or "Create new account" button, while others move directly to the registration page.
When you move to the registration page, you need to enter your personal information. This includes the following:

New Jersey has been a major driving force for promoting legal sports betting for over 10 years. In 2009, the state failed to make a trial to compete for PASPA's constitutionality. The Federal District Court rejected the lawsuit due to the lack of "plaintiffs eligibility."
In 2011 and November, a polling paper for the New Jersey General Elections, asking a public question whether the constitution should be amended to recognize professiona l-amasport gambling at casinos and racetracks. The referendum was passed by a large difference of 64 to 36.
Immediately after, in 2012, Congress has revised the Casino Management Law, and acknowledged that the casino management committee began to provide sports gambling license to casinos and racetracks. Later, Governor Chris Christie (then) and state have further stepped in to establish restrictions on the Atlantic City casinos and sports betting at the racetrack. In response, NFL, NCAA, and other sports leagues filed a lawsuit to prevent the state of sports betting. As a result, each league won, obtained a suspension order in the Federal Court, and stopped moving in New Jersey.
The league has consistently used PASPA to prevent the legalization of sports betting in New Jersey. However, the claim began to collapse in some events:
The league has adopted Daily Fantasy Sports and invests.
Each league held many games and sports events in Las Vegas
Transfer of a professional team to Las Vegas (NHL's Golden Knights and later NFL Raiders)

In the end, New Jersey lost the case at the Third Circuit Court of Appeals. The court ruled that while "ensuring uniformity of treatment among the states limits some of Congress's power, such an assurance does not limit the Commerce Clause." This means that federal law can affect states differently, creating a scenario in which Nevada can allow sports betting but New Jersey cannot.

New Jersey has been a major driving force for promoting legal sports betting for over 10 years. In 2009, the state failed to make a trial to compete for PASPA's constitutionality. The Federal District Court rejected the lawsuit due to the lack of "plaintiffs eligibility."
The Third Circuit Court of Appeals pointed out New Jersey's "clever drafting" of the law, but ultimately did not rule in New Jersey's favor. However, the court again split 2-1, and then en banc review took place, with New Jersey losing 9-3. The court rejected the state's anti-delegation argument, but did not address head-on the coequal sovereignty argument (explained in detail here).
In October 2016, New Jersey filed for a writ of rehearing in the "Christie II" case. This was seen as a long shot, given the very small number of cases the SCOTUS accepts each year.
But then the high court asked the acting solicitor general to file a brief on the case, which it did in May 2017, and recommended denying New Jersey's petition. But then the Supreme Court decided to take up the case anyway, not because the high court is terribly concerned about sports betting, but because of the way PASPA works.
In an amicus brief, a coalition of 20 other states wrote, "We file this brief in support of the petitioners because PASPA unfairly distorts the federal-state balance." And even if sports betting were allowed, all states would not legalize sports betting.
The major issue was that PASPA could be unconstitutional based on Article 10 of the Constitutional Fix, which violates the state rights. This was New Jersey's claim. In contrast, Paspa is forcing the state to maintain and enforce the law on sportsbetting in states (and other states), in contrast to the law that the federal government actually regulates and prohibits citizens directly. I claimed that there was.
In addition, New Jersey claimed that PASPA simply instructed a policy, and there is no framework for each state to follow the sports betting policy. This was a broad influence on the interaction between federal law, state law and policy.
