Introduction
This advice sheet is intended for employers and workers in the casino, racetrack and bingo hall sector. It outlines the potential hazards and risks posed by COVID-19, and provides recommended control measures.
COVID-19 is a contagious disease caused by the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus. Infected people transmit the virus by expelling respiratory particles when coughing, sneezing or breathing. It can be transmitted by inhaling particles containing the virus or by touching a contaminated surface and then touching your face with unwashed hands.
In all cases, follow the guidelines and requirements of your local public health authority and your state or territory occupational health and safety (OHS) organisation.
Refer to COVID-19 guidelines and CCOHS documents for prevention practices:
Conseils propres aux casinos, aux hippodromes et aux salles de bingo
- Advise all workers and visitors that anyone who is sick (or suspected to be sick) with VIDCO-19 should not enter the gaming establishment (e. g., by signage at the entrance, a notice on the website, or verbally by front desk staff).
- Consider training security guards on the safe and appropriate process for identifying, isolating, and removing visitors with COVID-19 symptoms from the premises.
- Ask all employees to constantly monitor for the emergence of COVID-19 symptoms. Ask anyone who develops symptoms to isolate as required by local public health authorities.
- Reduce noise levels whenever possible (e. g., reduce the volume of background music and slot machines) to avoid having to speak up to be heard.
- Restrict only the stables, dog huts, training rooms, and racetracks to those who need it. Consider implementation of measures to protect those who contact animals (for example, isolated to wear masks, isolated to avoid direct contact with animals, isolated the sick animals).
- Training sessions and group meetings are performed as much as possible, outdoors, or in a wel l-ventilated indoor space where participants can be spaced.
- Make employees work in one place as much as possible.
- Consider setting up a cohort (a group of workers who are assigned to the same area on the same schedule and take a break at the same time). Make the cohort as separate as possible.
- Avoid using pillars and floor fans indoors. If you need to use it, the air flow does not go from people to people.
- Take measures to promote physical separation and avoid indoor congestion:
- Attention to workers to keep the distance from others as much as possible (eg, when training sessions, meetings, when helping with the changing room, visitor);
- Slide the time for meals and break;
- Expose the slot machine;
- Move or remove furniture in the changing room, entrance, table game area, and waiting room to secure space;
- Evaluate the work and change as much work as possible so that you can do it alone (if it is safe);
- Limit the number of seats in the game table.
Tenez compte des risques
COVID-19 infection risk increases in situations where multiple risks exist at the same time:
- When interacting with people is long and frequent.
- A crowded place, especially coughing, sneezing, and exhaling breathing vigorously.
- A place where there is no ventilation with others.
- If hand hygiene or respiratory e-ticket is insufficient, or if there are no cleaning equipment or cleaning equipment.
- A place that frequently touches shared surface and objects. < SPAN> Stables, dog huts, training rooms, and racetracks are limited to those who need it. Consider implementation of measures to protect those who contact animals (for example, isolated to wear masks, isolated to avoid direct contact with animals, isolated the sick animals).

- When hospitalization related to COVID-19 or COVID-19 cases are increasing or increasing in the local community.
- If the sick is allowed to stay in the workplace.
- When people are at the same time multiple risks.
- If there is other high risk and the workplace hygiene measures have been alleviated (for example, cancellation of masking indoors, forced to return to all workers to workplaces).
Dépistage et recherche de contacts
Consider all that can occur in the environment and implement COVID-19 risk assessments. Create a risk assessment style or use an existing one to record and evaluate all the characteristics, activities, and duties of all workplaces. It is better to regularly review the risk assessment and check the effectiveness of the risk management method.
- Example of questions to be asked in the Vocid-19 risk assessment
- Is the indoor space well ventilated?
Where do people gather?
- What activities require interaction, communication, and contact with shared goods?
- How much is the physical exchange time, frequency, and proximity between people?
- Can people maintain appropriate physical distance to each other?
- Who is the most risky worker?
- What kind of surface is frequently touched and what is shared?
Ventilation
- Do people usually participate in activities with respiratory splashes (eg, singing, shouting)?
- Is it expected to stay in a closed space for a long time?
- To protect the health and safety of workers, fulfill legal occupational safety and health obligations by doing everything that can be reasonably possible in that situation. < SPAN> COVID-19 hospitalization and COVID-19 cases are increasing or increasing in the local community.

- To protect the health and safety of workers, fulfill legal occupational safety and health obligations by doing everything that can be reasonably possible in that situation.
- To provide the highest level of protection for workers, apply multiple public health and workplace control measures using a multifaceted approach. No single measure will be fully effective. Be careful not to create new risks or undermine existing control and safety measures. Consult with your health and safety committee or representatives to review and adjust measures as necessary.
- Develop and implement a written COVID-19 health and safety plan for your workplace based on your risk assessment. You may be required to have a written plan by state or local law in which you operate. Consult with local authorities to find out what details must be included in the plan, posted, etc.
- Establish policies and programs for worker accommodations, especially for those who are more likely to become seriously ill or develop complications if they become infected with COVID-19 (e. g., immunocompromised, chronically ill, elderly, etc.).
- Communicate new or changed workplace control and public health measures that apply to all workers in language they can understand. Specific training requirements and recommendations may vary by state or locality. Allow workers to raise questions or concerns. Respond to questions and provide feedback in a timely manner.
- Train workers on topics specific to VOCID-19, such as:
- How to recognize and respond to COVID-19 symptoms.
- How to identify and respond to COVID-19 symptoms.
- How and when to report a COVID-19 case.
- Information about vaccines and vaccination options.

- How to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and protect yourself in the workplace.
- How to get information using reliable sources.
- When to clean and how to safely use cleaning and disinfecting products.
- How to properly wear, handle, and maintain personal protective equipment (PPE) and masks.
- Information about mental health support services, including Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs), if applicable.
- For more information on communication and training, see the CCOHS document, COVID-19 Communication and Training.
- Post appropriate signage (e. g., COVID-19, infection prevention, hand washing, occupancy restrictions, recommended physical distancing, screening, mask wearing, etc.) in locations visible to workers and visitors, such as:
- Entrances
- Areas where mask wearing is required or recommended;
- Frequently touched surfaces
- Restrooms, locker rooms, and break rooms
- Entrances, pedestrian walkways, and other necessary locations
- The spread of COVID-19 can be reduced by:
Nettoyage et désinfection
Screening: Keeping people who may have COVID-19 out of the workplace.
- Contact tracing: Identifying and counseling people who have been exposed to the virus.
- Screen people entering the workplace if required by local government. Consider implementing a screening program, even if not required, as an additional protective measure for workers.
- Determine the type of screening needed in your workplace: passive or active.
- Passive screening asks people with COVID-19 to self-monitor and self-report if they become sick or are exposed to COVID-19.
- Active screening asks about signs and symptoms of infection, people who may have been recently exposed to COVID-19, and people who have recently traveled outside of Canada.
- COVID-19 Screening - CCHST
- COVID-19: Contact Tracing - CCOHS
- Properly ventilate indoor spaces according to the number of occupants and types of activities.
- Open windows and exterior doors when possible.
- Maintain ventilation systems and seek advice from ventilation experts on possible improvements (e. g., increase air changes per hour, reduce or eliminate air recirculation, or switch to an air filtration and purification system).
- When possible, operate ventilation systems continuously or for 2 hours before and after the building is in operation.
- Operate exhaust fans that exhaust outdoors to improve removal of contaminated air.
- The air circulation system and cooling fans do not send air directly from one person to another.
- If the ventilation system cannot be improved, consider the use of a portable filtration device with an absolute (HEPA) filter.
Équipement de protection individuelle (EPI)
Keep the indoor humidity from 30 % to 50 %.

- Install a transparent physical barrier to suppress the diffusion of respiratory particles. These barriers are:
- Especially in the case of exchanges that are frequently performed at a distance of less than 2 meters, install the cycle of respiratory particles between people;
Port du masque
- A sufficient height and width to cover the breathing zone of the two people on the left and right;
- What is made of no n-porous material;
- At least cleaning and disinfecting every day.
- Plan your barrier position carefully. Barrier
- Clean down the corridor and exit
- Hinder ventilation
- Make the outlook worse;
- It hinders safe work;
Vaccination
- To completely surround people.
- For more information about physical barriers, see "physical barrie r-CCOHS".
- The following is required to secure physical distance:
- Maximize the distance to people other than family and groups (at least 2 meters in all directions);
- Avoid unnecessary and emergency interaction;
- Restrict the number and time of exchanges as much as possible.
- Physical separation measures to be considered:
- Respect the requirements of residence and physical separation specified by local health authorities and governments. Adjust the restrictions if the requirements are changed to match each space.
- If possible, change the physical space and make it wider. For example, to access additional space, create an outdoor area for a line, remove temporary partitioning, etc.
Plan d’intervention à l’égard de la COVID-19
- Release the workstation to each other. Do not place multiple workers at once in each workstation.
- As much as possible, do not face the worker and the worker.
- If seats, sinks, urinals, etc. are nearby, the use will be restricted.
- Change the work so that it can be physically separated.
- Judge whether employees can work remotely and provide human engineering support and resources.
Avoid a meeting of fac e-t o-face such as social events.
Change the schedule to reduce the number of people working in that space.
For example, in specific situations, such as rescue of victims, provision of first aid allowance, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), exceptions are provided in requirements to refrain from going out.
For more information about physical restraint, see COVID-19 and physical restrain t-CCOHS.
Encourage good hand hygiene and compatibility with respiratory e-tickets.
Install a han d-washing place or han d-disinfectant dispenser (alcohol content 60 % or more) in a place with a lot of traffic. The dispenser is checked and replenished regularly.
