On my second day of open house, I flew around the capital, visiting seven different, very diverse properties. It's been a long day, so I don't have the time or energy to write about them all right now. Instead, I prioritized picking out some good photos and uploading them to Flickr. There are 24 of them, not just the seven you see here.

I'll write them all here eventually, and maybe even some today. But for the time being, I'll have to make do with a couple of sentences and some notes that will magically turn into proper paragraphs at a later date.

Open House: Chisenhale Art Place (Bow) Canalside OneThis group of studios occupies a former plywood factory on the banks of the Hertford Canal in Bow. A sparse bucket of art poses as an exhibition until September, but the real open house is a series of artist retreats across three floors on the second floor. Notes: A bit like a 1980s-born Bow Arts. A small archive exhibition, a long white hallway, Kevin Harrison's narrative sculptures (he seems to like a good title), Sarah Heywood's white camera obscura, two dance studios, under a deserted brewery. 3 photos

Open House: Chisenhale Art Place (Bow) Canalside OneOpen House: Flanders House (Cavendish Square) Misjudged

I don't think this Belgian trading post understands the Open House agenda. Reading the boards about modern architecture and watching a three-minute looped video encouraging investment in Flanders didn't seem worth the trouble. Notes: None Photos: None

Open House: Chisenhale Art Place (Bow) Canalside OneJust downstream from Tower Bridge, the four-tiered pontoon moored by 19 historic boats makes this one of London's most scenic houseboat hubs. Three Open Weekends are held each year, one of which always coincides with an Open House. Notes: As you descend the gangway, you'll find a central community room serving tea and cake, a barge with an unexpectedly wobbly wooden mast, a wonderful mini-garden, the Shard among the rigging, evidence of happy tidal living, a visit from a Dutch sloop with the opportunity to board, and an unexpected Lancaster bomber passing overhead. 4 photos

Open House

Open House: Chisenhale Art Place (Bow) Canalside OneOriginally opened in 1924 as a hostel for sailors from the London docks between journeys, it was inevitably redundant and has been repurposed as private housing for the past 30 years. A lush blue-tiled staircase leads up to a roof terrace with views of a communal garden and an unusual arrangement of local landmarks. Notes: a large anchor outside, evidence of occasional barbecues, a diagonal walkway, a former chapel converted into housing, a model building on the fourth floor landing, marine mouldings on the roof terrace, a new perspective on the East End. 3 photos

Open house

: Round House (Havering Atte Bower) Oval house

If you've ever walked the London Loop, you'll have seen this strange round, turret-like structure at the start of section 21.

Open House: Chisenhale Art Place (Bow) Canalside OneThe roundhouse is a few doors down, mostly hidden by trees, and is clearly oval, not circular.

The roundhouse was built around 1794 at Havering-at-Bower by the wealthy city lawyer William Sheldon. Architect John Plough was reportedly brought in to design the mansion, and Plough is said to have been inspired by Belle Isle, an island in the middle of Lake Windermere. He built an elegant, three-storey, oval-shaped stucco villa on a hill in Essex, with a cellar beneath it. The Italianate roof is shallowly shingled and copper-topped, with eaves projecting a metre above the atrium windows. Some of these details would later become fashionable, but were unusual in the 1790s. And the building has quite a history.

Sheldon never lived here, renting it out before selling it fairly quickly in 1807. It passed through various homes by marriage, eventually passing into the hands of a Romford vicar who developed a passion for breeding roses in the large field at the back. It was requisitioned by the Army during the Second World War, and may have been used to house wounded soldiers. Extremely expensive weatherproofing eventually caused it to fall into disrepair, and it was only in 1982 that his son was able to move in with his wife and young daughter Imogen. The Roundhouse is now Imogen's property, and she holds an annual open house, serving an exemplary selection of refreshments on a tower on the lawn.

The first part of the tour is the outer part, impressed with the smooth curve, copper top plate, and the smart drain pipe that passed through the building to prevent freezing in winter. What is particularly interesting is an old dairy hut, which was half crushed by a tree in 1987, but has since been reused as a cute summer house. From here, a low passage dive under the arch, and join the elliptical passage that turns the feet of the building used for the servant to enter and leave. If you are an important person, you will have come up the stone steps in the front Portland and come across the central corridor and the curved cantilever stairs. "There is no photo in this house," says Imogen.

We climbed up to the second floor and watched a modern mural drawn on an elliptical top light. Standed in the bedroom where you can see from the top of the trees to the city of London. On the floor, I went to a cautious and narrow copper balcony. In the shower room, Imojen persuaded English Heritage to peel off the wall, and succeeded in showing the original layer structure below it. On the first floor, we looked at the dazzling paint, and a new kitchen was added because her mother cooked in the chores, and the stupid waiter was no longer practical.

Imougen's plan is not to live here, but to create an art community where children and their families can explore and learn beyond normal curriculum. When I reached the basement, it was finally pinned. The NW Bedchamber was not currently being renovated, even though it had obviously been converted into a bar at some point. It turns out that the building was bought by Ford Motor Company in 1970 and used as a training center by the management, hence the many double diamonds drawn behind the counter. In the library on the second floor, the owner said it had been his bedroom, and eagerly pointed to where the fireplace had been. Meanwhile, I scanned the rudimentary collection of religious books and magazines, trying to figure out who Watchman Nee and Witness Lee were.

The Bower House turns out to be the main UK facility of the Christian charity Amana Trust, which has been using it as a seminar and residential training center since 2005. Amana Trust is particularly keen on detailed interpretations of the scriptures. I appreciated that they didn't try to force this on the Open House visitors, or lead everyone through the bookshop, but simply left a few free pamphlets on a table in one room. I thought I would stop for some free tea and biscuits, but Flight 375 was leaving outside in a few minutes, so I sent them off with my eyes wide open, wondering what was going on behind the normally closed doors.

Non-Hyperlocal Update: News from Birmingham1) Ozzy the Bull, who lived the show at the opening ceremony of the 2022 Komonwealth game, moved to a New Street station. He has been there since last summer to make it fair, but this is the first time I have seen him, so this is the "news." Ozzy is in the middle of a shopping mall, Grand Central, on a cav e-like station. More wonderfully, he wakes up every hour from 10:15 am to 8:15 pm. Occasionally, you can hear a rough breath. After six shakes, Ozzy fell into a deep sleep for 57 minutes, but all the people who wanted to take pictures and videos so far had a digital content and smiled.

2) This summer, the popular glass fiber animal in Birmingham is a bear. The Jester found in Piccadilly Arcade seems to be a decoration on the theme of historical exploitation or something. The bears of his friends are on the street until October 1, but frankly, traces of this kind of artificial place have lost their charm a while ago.

3) The birth of Cadbalry is the 200th anniversary of Cadbully, as John Cadbalry opened a grocery store on Bull Street 93 in 1824. At Cadbarry World, you can see the model of the shop made of chocolate. Unfortunately, the entire block has been demolished and redeveloped. In terms of address, My Hair My Beauty is on Bull Street 95-96, and the next CEX is on Bull Street 89-90, so there is no longer 93.4) Last time, when I went to Birmingham the last year, a year and a half ago, a junction of tram was underway in the corner of the Bull Street and the Corporation Street in preparation for the extension of the subway. As expected, it is now completed, but the tracks have progressed about 100 meters, and they reach the jumbled place of road construction and unfinished rails, so the new extension feels as far as before. Because of HS2.

5) HS2 has taken over a large part of central Birmingham. The old station building on Curzon Street stands empty, except for a Victorian pub across the road that bustles with people on a Friday after-work day. Beyond that, I can see what appear to be three white viaducts. Gazing at these vacant lots, it becomes clear that not only Euston and Old Oak Common, but the edge of Birmingham itself is essentially an unfinished railway desert.6) Chiltern Railways is running a promotion this month where you can get a ticket from London to Birmingham/Oxford for next to nothing on Fridays. Ian Visits has the details, but the key point is that you have to book early in the week to go on a Friday. I got a ride to Moor Street for £6. 40 (and back for £6. 40).

Hyperlocal Update: Bow News1) A by-election for Bow East was held on Thursday, resulting in a new MP. -

Abdi Mohammed

[Labour]: 53% (↑6%) - Rupert George [Green]: 30% (↑14%) - Robin Edwards [Conservative]: 10% (↑4%) - Siobhan Proudfoot [Liberal Democrat]: 6% (↓2%)Labour won more than half the votes, but with a voter turnout of just 15%, it wasn't as overwhelming as it might seem. The Greens' jump to second place reflects the recent green renaissance across London, but their leafleting campaign was strong, with three leaflets dropped in my letterbox. The Conservative leaflets arrived so late that I had already voted.

Tower Hamlets council is a mayoral system so Lutfur Rahman can do what he likes, so it won't affect how this election is run. However, the former MP for Bow East is now an MP for Westminster and the City.

2) There's still no poster at the M bus stop announcing that route 8 will no longer stop there, even though it's been seven days since the route was reduced to Old Ford, while one of the Bow Church DLR posters has been torn down (and another is heading in its direction).

This year, the season has arrived silently to update the spreadsheet of the annual number of passengers at each station. To be honest, TFL has updated this last month.

As usual, the number of passengers is investigated for a typical one week in autumn, and then for one year. It is good news that since the pandemic, it is the first year without travel restrictions. 2023 is the first year that cross rails were opened. The most crowded subway station in London (2023)

(Changes from 2022) 1) 1) Kings Cross St. Pancras (72m) 2) Waterlou (70m) 3) Victoria (60m) 4) Tottenham Cote Road (59m) 5) Liverpool Street (57m) 6) ↓ 2 London Bridge (55m) 7) ↑ 1 Strutford (54m) 8) ↓ 2 Oxford Circus (51m) 9) Paddington (49m) 10) 3) 3 Farindon (40m)

Kings Cross, Waterlou, and Victoria are the top three. However, Cross Rail has its presence, with Tottenham Cote Road rising to fourth place. According to the spreadsheet, this is the data of passengers entering and leaving the station, and the interchange is not counted. Oxford Circus is still the most common subway statio n-only station, and Stratford is still the most user station at subway stations other than Zone 1.

Next 10 stations: Bond Street, Bank / Monument, Canary Wurf, Easton, Green Park, Leicester Square, Piccadilly Circus, South Gate, North Gringe

The crowded subway station 10 other than London Zone 2 (2023)

1) 1) 1) ↑ 1 Wembley Park (15. 5m) 2) ↑ 2 Eagling Broadway (15. 4m) 3) Barking (15. 1m) 4) ↑ 1) Walsham Stow Central (13. 3m) 5) ↑ 1 Tottenham Hale (13. 2m) 6) ↑ 1) Touting Broadway (12. 4m) 7) 7) ↓ 6 Seven Sisters (12. 2m) 8) Wimbledon (11. 2m) 9) Eastham (10. 8m) 10) Wood Green (9. 1m

Wembley Park has won the first place in a number of global events, reducing the impact of the Eagling Broadway cross rail. Only Barking was in the top 10 at Zone 4 stations. Seven Sisters lost a quarter of the number of visitors compared to 2022 and fell from the lead. Nevertheless, in the northeastern part of London, it was particularly strong, including two other stations on the Victoria line (Black Horse Road was missed 11th). If this list continues, Hello On the Hill (8. 4m) will be the most strong station in Zone 5, and Axbridge (5. 4m) will be the most crowded station in Zone 6.

The most crowded underground station in London (1 line only)

Canary Wurf, North Grinning, Vox Hall, Brikston, Camden Town, Old Street, Knight Bridge, Walsham Stow Central, Covent Garden, Two Touting Broadway

Subway station where users increase by more than 20 % from 2022 in 2023

Richmond, Tafneel Park, Farindon, Upmin Star, Chalfont & Latimer, White Chapel, South Hello

Subway station where users in 2023 decrease by 10 % or more from 2022

South Eagling, Seven Sisters, South Kenton, Lancaster Gate, Finn's Berry Park, Hyd Park Corner, Marble ArchThis is still my favorite list.

Subway station 10 with the lowest users in London (2023)

1) Roding Valley (268000) 2) Chigwell (332000) 3) Grange Hill (397000) 4) NORTH EALING (606000) 5) THEYDON BOIS (734000) 6) ↑ 2) Luislip Garden's (807000) 7) ↓ 1 More Park (808000) 8) ↑ 6) South Kenton (821000) 9) Clock Three (838000) 10) ↓ 3 Upmin Star Bridge (854000)

Roading Valley is the most subway station with the lowest user. Central Line's Essex End is very good, including three stations, Hinnow Shuttle. North Eagling is rare for Zone 3 stations and is rarely used, because it is more convenient for Eagering Broadway and West Ackon. South Kenton has no ticket gates, so TFL is counted manually.

N. B. In this special data, Kenzington (Olympia) was counted as an overground station and recorded 2. 3 million passengers last year.

Next 10 stations: Ikkenham, Fairlop, Chesham, West Hallow, West Acton, Buring Side, West Ruin Lip, Northwembley, West Finchily, Hirindon

The most crowded subway station in each zone (2023)

Zone 1) Lijenz Park (2. 3m) Zone 2) Gold Hawk Road (1. 8m) Zone 3) North Eagling (0. 6m) Zone 4) Lording Valley (0. 3m) Zone 5) Louis Lip Garden (0. 8m) Zone 6) Saydn Bowa (0. 7m) Zone 7) Moore Park (0. 8m) Zone 8) Char Font & Latimer (1. 6m) Zone 9) Chececham (1. 0m)

DLR Top 5 Canary Wurf (12m), Lime House, Kati Sark, Loo Sham, Uridge Arsenal DLR Bottom 5: Beckton Park (0. 5m), Stratford High Street, Abbey Lord, Erverson Road, Royal ・ Albert

Subway stations where N. B. DLR runs is not counted. Otherwise, Bank, Stratoford, and Cancing Town should be in the top five.

Beckton Park remains Tumble Weed Central after the stagnant office development of the adjacent office. Pudding Mill Lane was the lowest for 20 years, but thanks to ABBA, he was no longer in the lowest 10th place.

Cross Rail Top 5 Abbey Wood (14. 2 million), Canary Wurf, Uridge, Romford, Ilford Cross Rail Bottom 5: Ivar (412, 000 people), Tapplow, Langley, Burnham, Hanwell

Subway stations with N. B. Cross Rail service are not counted. Otherwise, all stations from Paddington to White Chapel will beat all stations here.

The number of passengers on South all, West Doraiton and Acton Main Line increased more than twice as 2022 in 2023.

Overground Top 10 Clapam Junctions (13m), Liverpool Street, Denmark Hill, Show Ditch High Street, Shapers Bush, Hackney Central, Dalston Junction, New Cross Gate, Dalston Kingsland, Sally Keys Overground Bottom 10: Emerson Park (0. 3m), Headstone Lane, South Hamsted, Bush, Hatch End, Theobals Globe, Kilburn High Road, One's Worth Road, South Ackon, Bar King Riverside

Subway stations with N. B. overground do not count.

Given that Burning Riverside is the only station of extensions with £ 327 million, it is a pity that it is a pity that it will enter 10 of the most unusable overground stations, but it is more than most houses. This is because the railway was built earlier.

And now, let's introduce the last list that makes you feel the spirit of the times, as the renaming of the overground route is imminent.

Stations that are the most used on each route on the overground (2023)

Suffladet wire Barking Riverside (844000) Mildmei Line: South Rush Line One's Worth Road (747000) Weaver Line Theobals Globe (686000 Lions Line Headstone Lane (459000) Liberty Line Emarson Park (274000) ) In this series, we get on the train from the border between Grator London to the station, get off there, and see what is there. Today, it means Kempton Park, one station, from Hampton on Sheperon Line. Originally, the train stopped only on the day of the horse racing, in which case the station was Sanberry station, but the station was renovated in 2006 and became part of a normal railway network. It is still not so crowded.
Of the 59 racetracks in the UK, there is no racetrack in London, but Kempton Park is almost in London, about 100 meters. A businessman buys an ol d-fashioned mushroom site in Kempon, and opened 200 acres to jockey and opened in 1878. There are two concentric courses, a large triangular circuit with a jumping platform used in the National Hunt Race, and an inner loop used for flat laces. The biggest race is King George VITKS, which is held on boxing day, and gorgeous races will be held from September to April. Officially says, "Please come in the best mood," but to avoid the dress code posted along with a woman wearing a fashioner or a twidy man wearing a bakerboy cap. 。 It is almost quiet on Wednesday, but if you want to talk to a man in a mountain hut about the sale of a car, you can enter a huge parking lot. In other places, the staff of the course paints the gate, pruning topian, and illuminates flood lights to check CCTV. However, when you narrow your eyes through the gate, you can see some horses in the parade ring (one is dessert orchid, the other is a kite star). Kempton Park station can only be reached from the very end, through the racecourse car park. Passengers arriving from London can walk out, but those returning to the city must walk across a wide trellis footbridge to protect the many racegoers who may be waiting 30 minutes for the next train. A poster says that in 10 days Kempton Park will be introducing contactless payment.

It's very quiet here, and if it were in the capital it would be the fourth least used station in London. I was surprised to see a Harry Potter-like figure walking across the bridge, but it was a young cleaner in an SWR tabard and carrying a broom. A few real London-bound passengers strolled across shortly before the next train departed, but Sunbury station is generally much more convenient, so most locals head there. It's only 600 metres away, has the same frequency of trains, but carries six times as many passengers.

No one lives north of the station. It's land with a water supply and reservoir, and a motorway garage. The dual carriageway that runs through it is the A316, but a short distance away the M3 begins, running over Sunbury Cross roundabout. A footbridge leads to a huge Costco and Land Rover showroom. This is the only addressable place in the capital in TW16 postcode, a painted shipping container that houses a Greasy Spoon cafe.

For anything vaguely interesting, you have to head south through the streets of Lower Sunbury, dotted with charming anonymous alleyways and occasional recreational venues. Kempton Cricket Club has a thriving Colts section, and the Sunbury Adult Learning Centre teaches Tai Chi and lip-reading to beginners every Tuesday. Some people own big piles and visit the aforementioned Land Rover dealership, while others decorate their fronts with catalogues that fell out of magazines.

As befits an ancient riverside settlement, the closer you are to the Thames, the older the houses tend to be. French Street is named after the Huguenot refugees who once settled here. Unfortunately, I can't introduce you to the lovely church, the Millennium Embroidery Café, the walled garden or the Three Fishes pub. But I did explore some of the newer properties along the river, where boating enthusiasts who don't mind their gardens being submerged still want to live. The motley collection of houses is interrupted in places by a narrow footbridge that spans the three dozen properties on Sunbury Court Island.

Rivermead Island is used by locals as they use their local parks. You access it by a low, arched footbridge, past signs warning you not to barbecue, not to tents, not to bivouac, not to let dogs run loose, and not to fish without a license. On the opposite bank, the Thames flows lazily, relatively narrow for those used to the width of central London, and overlooking a huge weir fed by a water treatment plant. But what's odd is that halfway through this tiny island, the municipality suddenly changed from Spelthorne to Elnbridge. Formerly Middlesex changed to Surrey, and there was a coal tax collection station on the water's edge. What's going on?

This one island was once two islands, but the waterway between them was sized. On the other side was Swansrest Island, and its fisheries were connected to the south. Proceed through the vacant lot to the tip covered with trees for about 3 minutes, and you will be on a dock facing a small route behind Sanberry Court Island. This is a favorite drinking spot for local young people, probably not suitable for weak people, but I think it's better to be here than wearing a baker boy hat on a tweed. 。

The nearest station is Kemplon Park.

Overwhelming London: Pig Farm Array, Wuster Park

Pig Farm Array is a lon g-lasting straight road in Suton Ward, London. He has passed from the Trafalger Avenue to Stone Cot Hill, and continues from the Edge Land beside the Rowers Moden Horse Riding Center. The overall length is about 1 km, all of which are adjacent to the border with Merton. Both sides are surrounded by railings, and there are only a few exit on the way. I thought this would probably have an attractive back story. I may have been wrong.

I thought it would run alongside Pill Brook, but it was too early. At one point, a very tall folk lift penetrated the highest fence. Only cyclists were seen along the path, which would definitely have been upgraded in 2014 to a common path. The graffiti artist @worcesterparksfinest colors the entire wall. There were several pagoda at the back, and the atmosphere was exciting.

Sutton likes to use Prow's initials for footpass signs. You may be able to create a special feature on footpasses with the lowest number in the autonomous area of London. However, when I checked Public Rights of Way on the Suton website, there was only a map with a red line. < SPAN> This one island used to be two islands, but the waterway was sinked.
